Blood clot fear
« on: January 03, 2013, 11:28:45 PM »
I need advice if anyone can help me please. I've been on birth control for almost 2 years. I am overweight, not physically active that often, 22 years old. I've ha no problem with my birth control. This month I started having severe leg cramps and pain, sometimes sharp and someimes dull cramps. I was so worried about maybe having a blood clot so I went to the emergency room where they do a d dimer blood test that was negative. They said it "probably wasn't a blood clot" but the pain hasn't stopped. I was so scared so I stopped my birth control. I am still so worried that it might be a blood clot because of the consistent pain. There is no swelling or heat on the leg. Does anyone have any advice as to whether or not it could be a blood clot?? Even if the d dimer was negative?? Please help me.

Just posted on another persons thread about blood clot. The test is very accurate. But if you worried Lie flat on your back on  the bed, Keep legs straight and let someone push your foot toward your head. If no pain there is no blood clot and I mean it would hurt severe. As a nurse we do  on admits and bed patients this is routine check for us.

Thank you so much for replying. That makes me feel a lot better, especially since you said you're a nurse. I just was so worried that the test might not be that accurate and maybe even though it was negative I might still havee had one. Thanks for letting me know its accurate. And I had never heard of the foot thing but I will be sure to get someone to help me do that today. Thank you again!!
