New eye issues
« on: January 03, 2013, 12:14:14 PM »
Over the past couple days I have noticed that objects will get burnt into my vision. For example, if I look at something on the computer or on the television and I look away I will see the outline of the object. I know this sounds normal but it's been happening a lot more than it would normally. Also I keep seeing little lights in my line of sight, it's weird and has me worried. My possible explanation for it is either my eyes are dry or tired. I have been playing a lot of video games recently. I shouldn't be worrying as I have been to an eye specialist 3 times over the past year and a half, yet I find my self worrying about it. Could I be right and all this is just from my eyes being strained from playing video games?

I have the same thing, and I think it's migraine related.  I notice that for me it's worse if I have a headache or light sensitivity, which are common migraine symptoms for me.  I wouldn't be too concerned!  It literally happens to everyone at some time or another - have you ever seen those pictures where they tell you to look at it for a minute then look at a white wall?  Some people just have it happen more easily than others.

Hi, I used to work for an eye doctor and found that was extremely common. One of the biggest things patients forget to do while they are watching TV, on the computer, or in your case playing video games is forgetting to blink!! Make sure you are blinking and that will help keep your  eye lubricated and help the issue. Don't forget it is not going to happen over night-- a week of making sure you are blinking should help. Pick up some eye drops, do not buy visine because they are vaso-constrictors and will only mask the issue. Get some "Blink" tears-use them as much as you need.

This is totally migraine related. With all of the computers, televisions and gadgets we use that have bright LED screens, the instances of ocular migraines have risen drastically. A condition that was rare before has become rampant. Even the medical
assistant at my eye doctors office, told me she was also having the same thing. My neuro is in the same boat too. Peoples eyes are burning off with all these screens. I have all of mines set in the dimmest setting possible that still allows me to see. Staring at a light for hours on end can not in any way be healthy, not for your eyes and not for your brain. Make sure to take breaks and blink. Even though ocular migraines are harmless, they are extremely bothersome and annoying, nit to mention horrifying for people with HA.

I have the ghosting and burn in symptoms too. I also get weird little blue or white lights along my peripheral that last a few seconds. At first I thought it was my imagination but it isn't.
