concerned about these symptoms....HELP!!!
« on: January 03, 2013, 07:09:39 AM »
I thought I had been doing better.  But, now it seems to be getting worse again.  For the past couple months, I've had these feeling of tension/pulling in one side of my upper back, right below the shoulder blade...it comes and goes with no rhyme or reason...I just passed it off as nothing, and haven't had it checked out, but it's starting to worry me a bit where it's gone on for so long.

Also, just yesterday, I started a new feeling.  This crazy amount of pressure in my head...I can feel it in my ears, and like my temples, and the back of my head.  Yesterday it progressed to a headache, but still had the pressure too.  I wake up fine, but within minutes, that pressurized feeling returns.  Any thoughts??  It's worrying me a bit.  I had something similar once before, and they checked my ears, and all was fine there, so I'm concerned about what's going on.  I should mention, my father-in-law's memorial service was yesterday...however, I'm not sure if that would trigger this, we weren't that close...although, I do have a fear of death, so I'm not sure.

Thoughts please.

Hi,

I have just posted about similar feelings in my back, neck and chest..all on my left side.
I am also experiencing some weird feeling in my head which I find hard to explain. Mine almost feels really light and does feel like it is connected to my ears which doesn't help because I suffer from vertigo.
I find with my chest etc, it seems to affect me more if I lie on my left side although my right side slightly aches as well.
I am sure it is all anxiety related :(
I would say try and do some relaxation but I find that really hard.

How about stress coupled with anxiety which causes muscular tension.

The problem near your shoulder blade sounds like it could be some type of muscle tension which is quite common, regardless of what it is though I doubt it's anything to be overly concerned about. The problems with your head sound like sinus problems. I have had sinus problems on and off recently and have pressure and headaches along with it.

Thanks for the replies.  If it were muscle tension, would it really go on for this long (3+ months) unrelieved?  Also, I don't feel that stressed, at least not consciously so I don't feel like this should be anxiety related.  However, I do have plenty of problems in my life right now that I can't seem to resolve.

And about the head pressure thing.  Sinuses were mentioned.  I've never had sinus issues in the past, and I haven't been sick recently.  Don't sinuses typically act up with a cold or virus of some sort?  I've had no cough, runny nose, nothing.

Nope, you can develop sinus issues for no reason at all and at anytime. Sort of like food allergies. You can go your entire life nom noming on pb&j sandwiches, then one day in your 30's, you're chowing down on some peanut butter and your throat closes up and BOOM... allergy to peanuts.

Anxiety/stress will do all kinds of freaky things to your body, two of the most common, muscle tension and headahces/pressure. You're in a constant state of neuroticism, a constant state of being "on guard" without even realizing. Imagine if you will, your nervous system (because of the underlying anxiety) is constantly rigid and poised in a fight position, now imagine literally YOU standing rigidly in a fight stance with every muscle tense, locked and ready to go... FOR 3+ MONTHS. What do you think that's going to do to you? What is it doing to your nervous system?

Boom! Cracked an egg of knowledge all ova ya head.

I had been suffering with that.. Terrified of brain tumor or Parkinson's.. I had my boyfriend give me several good, deep neck and shoulder massages and rubbed icy hot on there as well.. Within two days it was completely gone.. I was struggling with Vertigo too and convinced it was my ears although 3 doctors said I was fine.. I was popping Claritin daily, but the massages and icy hot cleared that too, as soon as my neck was no longer tense! T
hat's the only good story I have about symptoms disappearing because I still struggle with the rest of mine!

The best part was I wasn't expecting the vertigo or weird feeling to go away, so when it did I was like Yay! finally...
Now, I occasionally still get the head feeling but only if I'm actively anxious and I can feel my heart racing, then Its like my head shakes to my heart beat and vibrates in my head. Pretty odd.

Hmmm...yea, tonight my back is really killing me...it hurts so bad all over, mostly the upper back.  And it feels tight almost, and like the tightness spreads into my chest somewhat.  It's kinda scary, but I'm hoping it's just muscle tension.
