Although night sweats can have a serious cause, anxiety is a much more common one. For women, hormones can also cause them. When I was pregnant and when I was breastfeeding, I would get them so bad that I would have to shower in the middle of the night because even my hair was soaked in sweat. A simple blood test would probably put your mind at rest. If you're anxious you may well be having nightmares which can also cause you to wake up with them.

Last night I couldn't sleep and I was in such a panic, that I sweat so hard. I soaked the sheets. I knew it was anxiety. I was shaking and scared. Anxiety causes sweating. I was also hot and didn't wantnto take the blanket off because I was paranoid. Anxiety really affects our bodies and males.us feel all.these symptoms.

Hormones can cause night sweats.

I know how scary they are, I've had them too.  The good news is I went to the doctor about it and they didn't even seem to care.  The real doctor wasn't nearly as concerned/ scary as Dr. Google.

I sweat frequently in my sleep. For almost a year now. I have had multiple blood tests and they have all been fine.
I have learned anxiety can really do crazy things to our bodies.

Do you sweat every night?

Hi you,

After doing some research because I was scared of night sweats myself, I found out that night sweats are hardly a cause for concern if that is your only symptom.

I, too, had a soaking night sweat one night. I found out it was from the Red Bulls I was drinking. If you are very concerned, I would go see a doc. As one poster mentioned here, I bet the doctor will not be concerned as Dr. Google is.  :happy0151:

Good luck!

hmm, I have been getting them mostly from my head. Im also on Testosterone replacement therapy and as a result my testosterone and sex hormone are higher than natural human most the time now. I kinda thought maybe my oestradiol was high as well. It didnt get tested recently so no idea but its very likely if others are high so I took 1mg anastrozole 3 days ago, night sweats reduced and this morning I awoke with completley dry hair for the first time in like 3 months....hormonal?

I do the same...several times a week. In fact I had stopped somewhat, then in  the wee hours of the morning I woke up sweaty again. I also notice if I have intense dreams they are worse.

Believe me Google had me convinced too!

Do you take any medications?  It's a pretty common antidepressant side effect.  It can also signify hormonal changes (that time of the month, etc).
