At the moment I've been having some pain and bowel issues recently varying from constipation to diarreah. I of course am freaking out that I have colon cancer or something like that. I have a topic going about it called "Feel doomed" on down the page. It contains a good bit of 'TMI' material about poop. lol

I can definitely try.  What's up?  I should say that I'm still worried too.  My cat hasn't been drinking any water at all today and now I'm worried she has hydrophobia!  Aah!  What's going on with you?

I got three scratches from a bin of water that's outside and I'm pretty sure animals drink otu of there... It's been four weeks since I got the cuts and I read that where I live their is little rabid wildlife, but that dosen't help!!!!!!!!! I'm freaking out over Rabies and I don't know if it can survive in water or not. Can Rabies survive in water? outside of the hosts body? .

The notion that you have rabies is about 100 times as farfetched as  your earlier notion that you were cured by a cup of tea.  Can you see a therapist and try to understand why you have this fear?  There is zero evidence to support it.  It is completely irrational.  The problem is with your thoughts, and that is what you need to address.  If you don't, you're just going to move on to some other catastrophic fear, which unfortunately is what happens to people with HA unless and until they do serious cognitive work.

Ok, I did some research about the virus living outside of the animal and this is what I found...

Bites in general are high-risk exposures. Animal contact by itself--such as being in the vicinity of a rabid animal, petting or handling a rabid animal, or coming into contact with the blood, urine or feces of a rabid animal--does not usually constitute exposure and, therefore, does not usually require post-exposure rabies treatment. The exception is if fresh, warm saliva may have been transmitted into an open wound.  Exposure of a human to a rabid animal does not always result in rabies.  Rabies virus does not survive outside the body for more than few seconds.

The saliva would've needed to be fresh and warm, straight out of the animal's mouth and into your wounds to infect you. 

If it helps, I've been super worried about rabies too.  I found that lump on my cat the other night and now she's not drinking any water and I'm paranoid that, even though she's strictly indoors, she somehow came in contact with a rabid animal that got in our house.  I've been afraid to touch her!  But my best friend has been very reassuring and made me think about it logically.  He said there's no evidence of an animal getting in the house, and when we talked to the CDC they told us that it is almost unheard of for small animals to carry the virus.  Plus, in the US the rabies virus has all but been eliminated in most areas, even in wild animals. 

Look up this website:  http://www.raboral.com/  It is about an oral rabies vaccine program going on in the US right now.  They are vaccinating wild animals orally and even raccoons are not as much of a risk now!  I really think this site will help to ease your fears a lot.

Thank you so much that website did help me ease up and stop worrying, I've read about it in a National Geographic about a year or so ago The'ye sure smart in doing that, then there will be less peope fearing for the end (in the US) because of Rabies.

gcalex, I did say that the tea was helping/demolishing my anxiety, true. but I didn't drink any todaay until dinner so my anxiety came back in the morning  I didn't keep up with the three a day (cups of tea) thing today so my fears were back. I drank a cup of tea with my dinner so now at 11:43pm I am fine and happy

My anxiety woke me up last night over Rabies (since i had a headache) and that fear that I have it. I just repeated in my head, "I don't have Rabies" and my headache which was most likely hormonal went away and I went back to sleep and slept until 8AM. I got enough sleep and I'll probably go back asleep so I can last until midnight or longer to celebrate 2013.

nevermind about going back to sleep, I have chores to do Like taking my dog out and I don't feel like going back to bed, I'd rather play with my siblings

I got some chamomile and some Sleepy Time vanilla tea that has chamomile and other herbs in it to help me relax at night.

That's good, i takled to my aunt and on top of the three things of tea I purchased and leftovers from tea I got this summer, my aunt is buying me MORE TEA. It'll last me a LONG time and the only reason I woke up in the night last night was my hand was tingling really badly and I couldn't find the brace for it, so I had to borrow my dad's hand brace.
