anthropomorphize
« on: December 24, 2012, 06:46:50 PM »
I found this word and I had no clue that there are others with this!!  My 13yo MR son flew his brand new remote controlled helicopter into very dense brush that has thorns and a fence so we cannot get to it to get it back.  It hit me then that I have always attributed human characteristics (feeling lonely, cold) to inanimate objects.  I was so sad for his helicopter that I cried and I am still very sad for it being out there.  It is so cold and must be lonely :traurig001:  I always wondered what this is, but when I googled feelings for inanimate objects, I got that word.  I am glad I am not the only one, but I still feel so sad for his brand new toy!!

I have this too. I didn't think anyone else did. I didn't even think it was a disorder related to OCD. I always thought it was an honorable and humane trait but now I am aware of the havoc it can cause. Its amazing the things we learn on the internet. I think I have learned more about myself online than in all of the years of therapy and psychs I've visited in my lifetime.

I agree totally.  I do not know if it is related to OCD or not, just thought it was the closest to that one. Not sure though.  Yeah thanks to media and the internet I have learned a lot.  I am thankful for that...most of the time ;D
