I love listening to music, I take headphones everywhere and use music when I'm feeling panicky (like on motorway trips!)

My favourites are:-

Anything by Jack Johnson (he is so calming), Chase Coy - New Love, Olly Murs - Busy, Coby Grant - I wanna be the one, anything by Colbie Caillat, Alexander - Truth (from a Breaking Bad episode), Hellogoodbye - Here in your arms.

its funny just the other day I was looking for music to lift your mood and be calming on youtube...like there is a certain megahertz or something that is calming....but then I started to think I cant give up my normal sometimes depressive music that i love..
so even if im anxious or depressed I still listen to stuff i normally do even if it makes me emotional.  Lately I have been listening to a lot of Silversun Pickups. they are great

I listen to the chill out station on Pandora. I also subscribe to many chillout channels on youtube. My favorite is Sheepy. He has the best chillout music. I also enjoy classical, jazz, and folk music (like Irish jigs!). Anything upbeat that helps my brain forget my problems.

Actually the one song that calms me down the best is off Rain Dogs by Tom Waits.  The song is called Gun Street Girl and something about the combination of the music and his vocals on that particular song help me breathe more easily during a panic attack and especially help me when I've worked myself up to the point of feeling nauseated.  I have it on it's own special playlist on both my iPod and my husband's for quick access!  I usually just listen to it on repeat until I'm calm.  No idea why that particular song is so effective in helping me control my breathing, but I'd recommend giving it a shot!

Imagine Dragons, He Is We, Owl City, and K'naan are my go-to's. And, of course, Disney soundtracks. Actually, all soundtracks. I love movie soundtracks!

I have a ton but the ones that are coming to mind right now are.

Still by Hillsong (religious)
If you're going through hell (Rodney Atkins)
Everything little thing is going to be alright (Bob Marley)
This Song Saved my Life (Simple Plan)
Welcome to My Life Simple Plan
Don't Worry Be Happy (cheesy but I love the Bob Marley version)
It's my Life (Bon Jovi)

I've started a "life soundtrack" music journal recently. Songs include ones that remind me of important milestones of my life, represent different facets of my relationships, or illustrate life's challenges. I've the playlist on my iPod, and I'm also writing down the lyrics in a notebook. after the lyrics I'll write a journal entry of the meaning of the song as it pertains to my life, whether it's a literal interpretation of lyrics or not. It's been a good introspective project for me. I'll share a few of the entries in the course of appointments with my psychiatrist along the way as I do with my regular CBT/etc journal
