I go for happy music that makes me dance!
Mainly soundtracks from children's shows. :3 I'm A Believer is a favourite, along with Under the Sea (Little Mermaid), and Kingdom Dance, I Have a Dream, and many more from Tangled.
I don't need anything that's inspirational, and anything that describes how I feel will only make me worse. I want something which changes how I feel, ones that I can't help but get up and dance to.

Defiantly Radiohead. Planet Telex, off The Bends, perfectly describes how I feel dealing with OCD, and depression. Separator is right now my favorite song by them, I find the lyrics to be really uplifting. And I think every socially awkward teenager can relate to Creep.

I listen to a lot of Radiohead. Daniel Johnston gives me the feels too. His music is so genuine and I feel like I can relate to him because he's struggled with mental health issues his entire life (though mine are nowhere near as debilitating).

I also like a lot of ambient music. Lately I've been enjoying Celer. It's so moody and magical. It was originally a husband and wife duo but the wife passed away unfortunately. Knowing that only makes the music feel more lonely.

C2C Happy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvY7Nw1i6Kw

This song inspires me and makes me happy :D
I always listen to this before I do something I am avoiding.
I think a lot of you will enjoy and appreciate it as well.

I enjoy something with a strong beat that makes me want to dance, which in turn becomes a form of exercise! I love listening to 90's pop music (I'm a big Britney Spears fan) backstreet boys, spice girls, or hip hop - drake, childish gambino, clear soul forces, t.i., kendrick lamar, and rock/indie music - kings of leon, avett brothers,  brand new, dave matthews band, fun., mumford & sons, pearl jam, fleet foxes, ryan adams, bon iver, wilco and good ol' rod stewart. My music tastes are all over the place, but one thing that isn't is my constant desire to listen!  :happy0151:

That depends entirely on the type and severity of the anxiety/depression.

For depression in general, I like Yo Yo Ma's rendition of Ennio Morricone's compositions, like Once Upon a Time in the West,

or the smooth Jazz compositions of Yoko Kano.

They're blissful and soothing like opiates.

"Warrior" has been my go-to lately. Very powerful lyrics and I know Demi has dealt with mental illness so it feels more relatable.

Smooth jazz or downtempo type jazz styles can help me out sometimes.  Or solo classical guitar has helped a time or two as well.  Video game music on occasion too.

I love music, and I have very eclectic tastes. I find when I'm very anxious or moody, I explore much less and turn to favorites. I think I find it comforting, the familiarity. This includes the following bands: Coheed & Cambria, Pain of Salvation, Dream Theater, Nightwish, Queensryche. Tori Amos gets a lot of play at this time, as does Brahms who is my favorite classical composer. I am a huge fan of David Nevue and Phillip Wesley who are New Age piano artists, my husband and I listen to their works almost every night before bed. Canon in D and River Flows in You by Yiruma are standby songs when I'm feeling high stress at work.

I also tend to listen to a lot of meditative/relaxation music such as Native American Flute music, and lately Dan Gibson's Solitudes series, which is nature sounds combined with soft music.

As I'm trying to clear out books and music, I realize how big music was in my life from the moment I heard a violin concerto as a child to the movie version of the Tales of Hoffmann as a teenager. Opera was primarily it for years. Still can't part with The Pearl Fishers or Il Trovatore.

Now I've expanded to just about anything. A favorite is to dance to Michael Buble's Save the Last Dance for Me or to swoon to Jonas Kaumann singing Du Bist Mein Ganzes Herz (German, You are my Heart) or anything he sings (opera). With everything available on YT we can send anxiety/depression packing, at least while we listen to such magic.

One great song that I have found is John Mayer's - The Age of Worry.
