Mirtazapine (Remeron)
« on: November 24, 2012, 07:32:38 PM »
Is anyone taking Mirtazapine (Remeron) for anxiety & if so, what are your feelings about it?  I have been taking 20 mg of Lexapro in the am & .5 mg of Klonipin at bedtime but I am waking in the night with bad anxiety every night.  Psychiatrist says Mirtazapine & pharmacist says drop the Klonipin if I take it.

So does it work?  Side effects?

Has mirtazapine been prescribed for anxiety, or to help you sleep?

NOTE: I'm not a doctor, and particularly not yours, so there may be factors I'm unaware of. Therefore all advice is of a general nature and you should consult your doctor before following any of it, especially before changing med doses.

I was prescribed Mirtazapine for both depression and to help me sleep .. I've only been taking it since Friday but it has certainly helped me sleep and have now had two 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep. A break through as far as I'm concerned as prior to that I had to take a valium to get to sleep. Will get back to you about the influence on the depression/anxiety side as soon as I notice any differences there.

Remeron is great for knocking you out. You will certainly get a good night's sleep on it. I take 30mg of it at night. I love it. I take it for anxiety reasons. But also take 3mg of Klonopin a day. 1.5mg am and pm. Keeps me nice and calm and sure helps me rest well. No bad side effects at all.
