question for those on meds
« on: November 12, 2007, 12:20:03 PM »
So I called the health care center and GOOD NEWS...I can see the doctor on Thursday morning to FINALLY get my meds. I am seriously worried they will try to put me on another SSRI when what I need is clonazepam. I've been having panic attacks DAILY so hopefully the doctor will give me some kind of immediate relief. I'm a mess right now. I don't know if I should tell the doctor I want benzos, I'm afraid to be labeled a drug addict. Truthfully, I'm just desperate to feel normal. How many docs did you guys have to visit to get a scrip for downers?

its funny because both of my doctors put me on klonapin right away.  i didn't even ask for it.  so i didn't know it could be habit forming until i read more about it.
just tell the doctor exactly how you feel and that the panic attacks are overwhelming.  i am sure they will decide to give you something for that, if they dont ask for it.  just say you've been doing some research and feel it might work for you.

good luck at the appt. (the waiting is the worst)

My doctor prescribed me xanax the first time I saw her.  That didn't work well so after 3 days I went back and told her that this stuff does nothing.  Just instantly put my on Klonopin and I have been on it since then and that was in January.

That's really bizarre that they gave it to you so freely...docs around here must be owned by pharmaceutical companies, because I've been prescribed everything from Prozac to Zoloft by about four different docs...none of them were willing to give me anything to bring me down, even when I told them how ruined my life is and BEG them not to give me another SSRI. Last time I told the doctor everything in tears...and told him about the seizure from wellbutrin and the other crazy things SSRIs have done to me...BEGGED him for some relief, said I didn't want yet another antidepressant...he came back with Paxil. When I read about Paxil and saw how it said DO NOT TAKE IF YOU HAVE A HISTORY OF SEIZURE...I called the doctor's office back in a rage, asking how could he do that to me??? I explained I needed relief NOW, that SSRIs do not help me...she bitchily explained that "I'm sorry, that's all we will offer you". I've been in a nightmare with the hospitals here.
