Usually what helps me is just a dose of reality....like silly reality shows on tv aha. Also work and excercise...I always feel a lot better after exercising.  I dont like nights where I have nothing to do though  :( they're always the worst! Recently ive been keeping a diary aswell! Sometimes it helps just to jot down your feelings and remind yourself its just anxiety x

There are very few hobbies right now that reduce my anxiety, but I've found that lately I'm treating my hobbies as obligation. I "need" to swim or kickbox because exercise is important for my body. I "need" to practice piano more so I'm not wasting my piano teacher's time when I see him for lessons. When I have down time I have trouble deciding the best way to spend my time I "need" to journal on my cognitive behavioral therapy, or maybe I need to clean house, or whatever....there's just an underlying pressure I'm putting on myself to make best use of what little free time I have so it's not truly relaxing.
I had the same problem when I was trying to meditate. I liked it when I did it but it was all about fitting it into my schedule and when it came up on the schedule it was another "should do"

My psychiatrist was talking to me the other day about "what is your anxiety telling you about your life?" And this is one thing my anxiety is telling me. Even when I'm not actively anxious, I haven't been TRULY relaxed in maybe a year. Definitely something I need to work on.

I've been really enjoying my plants lately. I've never been much of a gardener but there's something about waiting for my flowers to bloom that feels very good. I see a bud forming, and in a few days it's grown into something much larger and so beautiful. It's not very time consuming but it is something that keeps me grounded in the present when I feel like my mind is swept up in my worrying.

i'm an art student. a lot of the things i draw are for work/class.

my hobby is, to be completely honest, drawing gay porn.
Its pretty brainless, and i can basically just look up a nice reference and draw my favorite male tv characters in compromising positions.

I bird watch. I have a balcony that has feeders up on a post and on the ground. Whenever people come over, we all gravitate towards the birds and sit in silence. I also love taking pictures, especially landscape or weather related. If I have a camera in my hand, my anxieties are pretty much non-existent.

Like Scye27, when I'm looking through the viewfinder of my camera at a bird or other subject, I feel nothing else; the rest of the world just melts away. It's my favorite therapy. Usually I go for walks along a creek or a hike in the woods looking for subjects. It's not only emotionally soothing, but it's the only way I can stand to get exercise because I don't feel like I'm doing exercise; I'm just doing something I love. I also am a leather worker, author, sculptor, painter, digital artist, and pretty much anything else that has a visually creative component to it. I tend to cycle through my interests, but photography is the one that really makes me totally forget that I'm anxious, and it's the one that actually gets me out of my house and being active too. I also enjoy cooking, but for some reason it seems to amp up my anxiety; I think it's because there is a time component to it that stresses me out (need to get those potatoes roasted and that chicken grilled and the vegetables sauteed and try to have them all ready at the same time... as much as I love it, it is still stress-inducing).

Making jewelry used to be my go-to, but I haven't done it in months.  I'll probably pick it up again soon.  Crafting random projects in general as well.  But right now, mostly binge-watching TV shows, playing with my puppy (usually simultaneously) and my husband and I have recently picked up bicycling.  There's a huge park near us with miles of scenic bike trails and it's amazing.

Reading helps a bit but recently it's been hard, I just get so distracted from the book by my anxiety when it's supposed to be the opposite. Daydreaming and lucid dreaming help a lot but both of them can go terribly wrong sometimes (I once got scared and had chills run through my back from a blue fox puppet I imagined, a damned fox puppet) but they're fun and most of the time they help quite a bit. There's also cooking and baking, although I mostly do it for the eating I really do enjoy making food, especially when someone else enjoys what I make.

I also recently tried to take up gardening, it was nice but I'm lazy and don't really keep up with it.
