could someone explain
« on: September 24, 2007, 03:16:10 PM »
I have been having odd feelings lately that are hard to explain. It is a physical and mental feeling of just being here. Is this depersonalized symptoms or something else? I cant seem to be able to put my finger on this odd sensation. Maybe someone could explain their depersonalized symptoms to me so I can tell if that is the problem. It is kind of scary but not to bad. The only way I can explain it is that I am just going through the motions and I am not completely in the moment. I don't lose track of time or reality but it feels unreal.

When I was in high-school I had severe depersonalization after smoking marijuana, which may have been laced with PCP. Another reason to STAY AWAY from street drugs! Depersonalization is like feeling disconnected from reality, feeling emotionally dead when around other people, kind of like looking through a fog. Like you're living in a dream, and it's much scarier because a part of you knows that it's not a dream. So you panic more, and this only increased the anxiety and depersonalization.

I agree. Depersonalization is almost certainly the worst part of anxiety disorders. It feels like insanity at times.

Agreed - I hate when I get on auto-pilot.  It completely freaks me out - then I get all anxious lol

I must be wishing on the wrong star, because someone else is always getting what I want

I like to feel at home with the world - and feeling like a stranger to it is unbearable. Strong Depersonlization is one of the strangest, terrifying feelings I am sure I will ever experience.
