I was at church, sitting three pews back from the front. It was right in the middle of preaching ( my husband is the preacher  :-*) and I suddenly felt like I was going to pass out. I went to the back of the church in the Sunday school rooms and just paced until the service was over. I just knew that if I sat down that I would pass out. I also had to keep drinking water because I thought my throat was closing up. That started me on a panic and anxiety journey that is almost five years long now!

The morning after a New Years party at which I had consumed too many tequila shots. I swear the alcohol did something to my chemical makeup. I woke up the next day in a state of panic, couldn't eat and was totally confused by what was happening to me. Did not know what a panic attack was; that was 30 years ago.

I was working at the a school and I was outside watching the kids play for recess. I went through this 3 times and all the times I did I went to the er.  The er couldn't figure out what was wrong with me but they kept on billing me.  I eventually went to a therapist and he told me what it was.  I would not wish this on my worst enemy.

I was 22 (I am 32 now) and I was just laying in bed watching tv. Nothing scary or anxiety producing. My heart started to skip. I sat straight up. My heart started pounding and I felt dizzy. I thought I was having a heart attack. I had my cell phone in my hand with 911 pressed, ready to press send and I just thought I was crazy. I sat there and said "How can I be having a heart attack? I am 22?" I calmed down a little bit but ever since then anxiety abound. Constant panic attacks have morphed into depressive episodes that last 3-5 days at a time every few weeks and constant anxiety/GAD with about 1-2 panic attacks per month. Luckily I have learned to control the panic attacks because I know what they are now. But the worst ones are when you are driving, which seems to be a big trigger for me.

My first one i cant remember but the one I had that I will never forget , was me and my wife was in the living room and my mom yelled for us to come in the kitchen, and so we did and she was breathing heavy and sweating and she said her head felt really heavy. So we checked her blood sugar and it was 34, so we called 911 and she went in the ambulance and we drove right behind them and got the hospital and they did a bunch of test and come to find out her brain cancer and was back, she has 3 tumors in her brain and alot of brain swelling and basically the doctor said she has a yr to live and there was nothing they can do anymore but put her in a nursing home! As soon as I heard that, my heart just felt like it was coming out of my shirt, it was eating so fast, then i fainted and i woke up next to my mom in the hospital and couldn't remember what happened and they told me i had a anxiety/panic attack and ever since that one it seems like anything that is bad or I'm really depressed ill start having a attack and have the same symptoms!

The one that started this all happened while I was driving down the interstate at 80 mph. I was coming home from a friend's house and had an hour and a half drive ahead of me. I was just driving, thinking about whatever, singing along to my music, and suddenly I felt like my vision changed and I felt like I was coming out of my body..my hands and lips went numb and I was just in a state of panic and fear and confusion. Have not been the same since. Now driving is a huge trigger...I've come to deal with driving around town but now, driving down any long distance of road and going over 40 mph seems to really freak me out and bring up the same symptoms. I hate it, since I used to LOVE driving places :(

February 1996. I was 29. In a restaurant. Thought I was having a low blood sugar
thing. From then on all the attacks I'd have would send me eating anything I
could find! Only a year and 50lbs later did I get the proper help needed for a Panic
Disorder with Agoraphobia treatment.
