Sweating
« on: August 15, 2007, 03:50:01 PM »
So, I`ve had last few days problems with constant sweating. The fact is, It`s freaking hot here in Finland right now, so everybody are sweating more or less. But, my sweating is out of control. I did not sleep much last night, I was sweating like nuts whole night. I get these sweating "attacks"...I mean all of the sudden my neck and head goes hot, spreads to my whole body and I start to sweat. Then it calms down, and comes again. Of course I know it`s common anxiety symptom, but you wanna know what I did after a long time?...I asked mr. google what he thinks about my situation. He thinks it`s cancer! My girlfriend is freaking out, begging me not to start it all over again. I admit I`m little anxious, I have much stress for sure. And I`m kind of hyperactive all the time,I feel like I cannot stop myself for a second. Maybe I`m just insane?

Your not insane don't worry. Basically its just hot so your body is sweating more to keep cool. Anxiety also causes you to sweat alot like what I think of it people in court on the stand sweating their butt off. Its definetley not cancer don't listen to Mr. Google he's a moron who doesn't know your sitation or about your hypochondria. Just be sure to drink plenty of fluids and i'm sure you'll be just fine :)

Miika, I think it's time to head to the sauna so you don't worry about sweating so much.  Just try to relax, and don't visit any health sites except anxiety ones.  If you have to check a website compulsively, check the anxiety sites.

I worked in Vaasa, Finland in the summer of '99 - they said that year was the warmest summer in recent memory, but I'm sure it's getting hotter now...

I don`t usually sweat much. But now this thing won`t stop! I feel like I would have run maraton all the time, I mean I sweat so much. Right now when I write this I start to sweat even more. Is it really just anxiety? damn, I don`t need this 0103 again..

A few months ago I was afraid to go to sleep because I was afraid I would sweat and that was a sign of some cancers. I had an eye opening experience yesterday at work. I am a children's psychologist and a parent came into my office with her son with criteria that she found off the internet and she was positive her son had autism. I found myself on the other end of "google" for once and I found myself reassuring her her son was not autistic and that she should leave diagnosing her son to medical professionals. After that session I was like, this is how doctors must feel about me. I GET IT NOW. STAY OFF OF GOOGLE. :angry-smiley-034:

I too have had some of the issues with sweating. "Night sweats" is supposed to be a big danger sign if you read the literature, but once you have severe anxiety, all bets on anything autonomic are off. Oh I long for the days when a drenching cold sweat meant my fever had broken. (of course that still is the most common reason).

Sweating is an autonomic process and anxiety can wreak havoc with anything autonomic.

If the symptom is attached with fear, it's anxiety.

I used "search" and noticed I`ve complained about this few times before. It`s funny how you forget all the symptoms, there has been too many to remember it all. lol.

Anyway. I`m still having these "hot waves" and some sweating. The fact is, it`s really warm here and kind of "pressuring air", if you know what I mean. It`s thunder in the air definitely. everybody are pissed and complaining how annoying the weather is. So it`s normal to sweat now, plus when I panic about it, it gets worse.

I get the sweating exactly how you describe with a hot flush up the face. I think it definitely happens more when the weather is humid and muggy like before a thunder storm. Every little movement seems to make me break into a sweat. I hate it!

A sanderella is a mythical creature in Algerian folklore, similar to a mermaid. It is used as a cute nickname.
