Accuracy of digital thermometers?
« on: April 23, 2005, 10:04:45 PM »
I was just wondering something

My old mercury thermometer broke the other day and I ended up being forced to purchase a digital one because 7 states outlaw them now and they are difficult to find anymore. I must say that I am not at all happy with this "high-tech" one because the readings are always much lower than they were on the mercury one. It also takes my temp in about 10 seconds which might help explain WHY the reading is so low - it does'nt take my temp long enough!. How accurate are these things anyway and do you need to add or subtract 10 degrees to get your reading or something (it's oral)?
