Feeling less anxious but more depressed on Seroquel
« on: February 07, 2012, 02:07:11 PM »

I've been taking a low dose of Seroquel (50 mgs) to help with major panic and anxiety, for about 6 days. I feel the cloud of panic *finally* beginning to dissipate, but in it's wake it's leaving me with a fair amount of depression. Does anyone know if this is normal? My doctor is planning on putting me on Prozac at the end of the week to try and combat an anger side effect that I've gotten from taking Seroquel in the past, so hopefully it will help the depression as well but in the meantime I wanted to know if anyone else has ever had this happen to them?

I've been on Seroquel before, several months ago, and don't remember being sad like this.

I'm sorry I can't be of much help because I've not been on either Seroquel or Prozac before.  I do feel though, if you are experiencing those side effects that you need to get in touch with your doc and keep him informed of how you are feeling.  I really think that's best and then he can advise you how to proceed.  another option would be to call your pharmacist and ask if that's a side effect of the med that will subside.  At least that way, you know what you are dealing with and how long it could last.  Good luck to you!

Generally speaking, anyone starting an antidepressant in the first two weeks can feel a range of mood changes and side effects. Depressive symptoms may or may not arise, however, it would be best to consult a GP to seek a professional opinion about the duration and concern about the sensations you may be going through.

I take seroquel with my normal ssri med. The seroquel for me is to make me sleep. I've said before it works awesome for me. I sleep like a baby with it and wake up feeling great and refreshed. Its an as needed for me too so I don't take it or have to everyday but I mainly take it on work days so i get good rest. I have never had a single side effect from it. I take it , makes me sleep great and i wake up feeling good. My first dose of it i took, was the same, no bad effects at all. I love this med and think its a life saver for me to get good rest at night.
