I took Zoloft for 7 years without noticing any negative side effects. I weened off it a few months ago because I thought I didn't need it anymore (but I was horribly wrong). I've been back on it for about two weeks now and I have been noticing some tingling of various body parts. I don't know whether to attribute it to the Zoloft or the anxiety. The fact that you just started taking it this morning makes me think that it's probably not the Zoloft. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it. It can't hurt you. :)

Hi Kayla,

Very simply, turn off the computer, turn off the Internet. I did what you did. I have a thousand posts here and the majority have been to reassure folk. I am not more clinical and can say with clarity what to do.

Confide in a family member or friend, but avoid sites like this, as you'll only become a greater sufferer of health anxiety.

Best.

I love Zoloft.  I had some side effects when I began taking it, but plenty of people do.  They're natural, and really not bad at all.  I think if you give it a chance and can keep from worrying yourself (just as I had to do) you will find after several weeks that it is a blessing to you. Zoloft is a good SSRI to treat anxiety and depression, and it is also used for OCD.  I have found it to be very gentle.

I agree with Carolinalight above,   I'm on 25mg of Sertraline  the generic zoloft and I think it's a gentle medication also.
Don't be afraid of the medication,  your only feeding your anxiety.
The best advice my doctor gave me when he prescribed it was,  he explained how the med slowly builds in your system over several weeks,   but I may feel better much sooner because I know it's going to help,   so every morning I took the dose with the positive thought that everyday comes closer to relief from anxiety,   and it worked..
Don't read into any horror stories about meds,  I think many people confuse anxiety symptoms and automatically blame the medication for causing some scary sensation,  when most likely it didn't,  but the trust in the med is gone and the vicious cycle begins of becoming afraid of something meant to help you..  and the anxiety then wins..

At one time i was on zoloft for a few years. Don't google these meds, people write the dumbest stuff to scare people. The only place on the internet that I have found people to give real and honest reviews of meds are on drugs.com. I think there regulated so the morons can';t just go in and type scary tactics on there. Anyway, Zoloft was the easiest med for me to take, no side effects what so ever. It just didn't do the trick for my GAD so I went to different meds. That was my experience with it though. easy and nothing bad about it. The body seem to adjust to it very peacefully.
