« on: January 27, 2012, 09:33:25 PM »
im 30 something, had my first panic attack when i was 11, seeing a doctor for the first time in a while, marks out of 10 hurting/killing yourself, wtf i say 7, i cut away on myself in my youth, the way my life is if i was gone tommorow my family would be happy, but she gave me a strict warning, 'these tablets should see an improvment in 6 weeks', no change the 6 weeks is up should i give a lower number to her? if not would they be able to me keep locked in forever?

Hi

I have panic attacks and the medicine will help you with that.  Try not to worry yourself sick, i dont think they would lock you up forever. I am not sure why they would even tell you that. I have bad days and my thinking gets kind of crazy but it always gets better. Anxiety seems to take over at times when we really need it not to. Just hang in there.

be honest with you gp easybeat. They won't lock you up for anxiety. Hell the health service won't lock you up for much short of major delusions or being a real threat to others these days, not like decades ago when they'd lock you up for being gay or having an extramarital affair! - sorry I'm being flippant, (that sort of a day) but I know where you're coming from, I was always scared they'd lock me up too. But they never have yet.

If you don't tell the truth to your GP you will stay on the same pills, and if they aren't working for you there are others that you can try. Different meds work for different people. Be honest, try not to be scared.

I hope your GP is nice.
