Is this familiar to anybody?
« on: January 18, 2012, 07:53:27 PM »
I have been posting on here recently about the return of my anxiety problems.  I went to Urgent Care, and all of my physical tests came back normal including Thyroid.  I was perscribed Atevan.

I don't feel like I'm nervous, but I get a tight feeling in my chest that stays for long periods of time.  It is all I think about when I have the feeling.  I would say in the last 7 days, I have felt the chest tightness more than not.  Atevan helps a little, but the creeping tightness just keeps coming back.  Can anybody relate to this?

I can say that on most nights I have some kind of sensation in my chest. I go to the doc in the morning and I hope something gets done and helps me. It's rough and I always fear the worse.

chest tightness is a common symptom of anxiety and the fact that the atevan helped some may mean that it is anxiety related.  If you keep searching these forums you should come across many who experience these same sensations as a result of anxiety.  I feel fine sometimes but still have symptoms.  I think its the release adrenaline in small amounts maybe.  Not enough to get you worked up but enough to cause a sensation.

Good Luck

Yep, chest tightness is classic anxiety.  I am recovering from bronchitis, so the chest tightness is even worse!  Then there is the breathing issue that goes along with it, both bronchitis related and anxiety related.  Argghh!!  Deal with the stress and I bet the tightness in your chest goes away.

Totally agree. I have often had this sensation too. You aren't alone!
