New Generic Zoloft user.
« on: January 13, 2012, 05:57:32 PM »
I took generic Zoloft at 9:00 pm last night.
It's 3:20 Pm. And I feel sick. Do you think it's from the Zoloft?

Ugh. I have to take another dose at 9:00 pm.

I slept like hell last night.
Kept waking up in a panic.

Tossing and turning.

Couldn't sleep at all, worried all night.

I don't know what tO do I feel so sick .
And my anxiety IS WORSE! :(

Hi Girl, after reading a few of your posts on here it appears to me that your stressing way too much over your meds. And it seems you have been prescribed a bunch of different ones in a short amount of time. Do not Google meds . Are you being prescribed by a psych or your family Dr.? They should both be on the same page if you're using the two. Starting an antidepressant can be activating to some the first few weeks. Maybe try to take it when you wake up as opposed to taking it before bed? Meds are not an instant cure all for what ails us. They will help but you have to put forth the effort to stop overanalyzing things that needn't be worried about, hopefully you're in counseling and learning coping skills and changing thought processes that cause more anxiety. There is a link on the top of this page with cbt exercises that are great. Stay strong, you will be fine. Best wishes.

I again agree with Mr Manic.

I am assuming you came off the Cipramil after reading your posts. I have to say you didn't give it a fair shot.

Zoloft (or Lustral where I live) is a really well recognised med and very effective for anxiety as well as depression. We have a good few zoloft users here on AZ.

With all the SSRI's , you have some start up effects, but it's often difficult to distinguish between a start up effect and your own anxiety. I'm quite sure a lot of your issues are psychosomatic to be frank.

You could note that in the old days, Meds like SSRI's weren't available and you had Meds that really did give side effects which again had to be battled through.

You have to ask yourself can you get through a few weeks of start up or will you pack it in bearing in mind you're likely to feel as bad or worse? It's an easy question to answer.

Bear in mind too, we are here to support you.

I started taking generic Zoloft a month ago and I had all of the symptoms you posted.  The restless sleep and waking up in a panic were the worst.  My doctor took me off of it....hope you feel better!

I just don't know what to do.
I have terrible anxiety, I hate going to the mall, the stores, and I cant concentrate either.
I have add. and anxiety and depression.

The ritalin helps me a great deal with my add. but the problem is, i get panic attacks, and when i come down from the ritalin i get depressed, so its a tough situation to tackle.

I am on day nine of my Zoloft 25mg and glad I am not the only one who feels that this drug makes them more nervous. I started taking it for depression which it has really helped. My anxiety has gotten a lot worse though while being on it! Either I take it and feel a lot more anxiety or don't and feel depressed???

Hi Girl21 and Hope2011,,

I was wondering if you had an update on your symptoms. I am in day 5 of my Zoloft and my Anxiety is much worse and I am not able to sleep either. Have those symptoms started to get better? Thanks!

Girl 21 was asked to explain why she was taking so many Meds within a few days. Too many trials to be credible in my opinion.

Girl 21- I assume your "my doctor" post is aimed at me. We are here to help. I am conscious of how many Meds you've mentioned previously in such a short space of time- Cymbalta and Ritalin and Cipramil and Zoloft to name four. Four mentioned within two days, your posts stated you were on Cipramil followed the next dayby generic zoloft(generic). A doctor would not have you on one SSRI on the 12th of Jan and then another SSRI on the 13 TH of Jan. You should follow your doctors instructions and I wouldn't store Meds or self medicate.

Your posts are always very intense. You are a member here now since 2008. How are you as of today?

Yes it was aimd at you, I haven't been on here in a while.
I had medicine zoloft prescribed to me from before, and I took it, then later on my doctor prescribed me celexa... so yeah. i stopped taking it becuase of the scary heart attack side effect...

then i went back to my doctor and he gave me zoloft again...

i never mentioned anything about cipramil, i dont know what that is....
unless u are talking about tenex?  the doctors nurse prescribed me that becasue i was prescribed ritalin for my a.d.d.  the ritalin was giving me bad anxiety...so the the doctors nruse changed my dosage a few times, not enough ritalin wasnt helping,. and too much ritalin was giving me anxiety, so the nurse said to go pick up tenex, but i didnt wanna take that cause its for blood pressure,so i said to the doctor no thanks, so he recently prescribed me dexedrine.
i need to pick up my zoloft from the pharmacy. and as of right now i am just taking dexedrine (generic)

so yeah...medicine is trial and error, if something doesnt work for me, i tell my doctor NO. i also am very scared of sides effect.......so i dont like to stay on medicine for very long...

so yeah.....   any other questions feel to ask.

Cipramil is the Irish name for Citalopram.

Here's what worries me. On January 12, you mentioned taking your first dose of Citalopram and on January 13, you talked about taking a zoloft the previous day. I became alarmed and am still alarmed that someone would take two SSRI's the same day. You are now telling us that you are making med decisions from various Meds in your possession. Pl be careful.

Also the scary heart attack side you mention is a very crass way of describing an issue for high dose prescriptions. It's also relative to your age and health and your doctors line of thinking.

All your posts are rather dramatic. Read some of my other posts here. Do the same with other long term experienced posters, you'll see that folk have all your worries and issues, try an antidepressant for six to eight weeks and you may surprise yourself and be more right as rain.

Yeah I took Zoloft one day, and Celexa the next day, it's ok my doctor said thats ok.  Or else he wouldn't have prescribed me it the next day am I not right?
He is a medical professional, I'm pretty sure if it was dangerous he wouldn't have prescribed me it.

I wasn't taking it on the same day, one day I took Zoloft the next day I started taking Celexa.

There is a side effect of Celexa that messed with your heart, and I don't wanna take it.

So I wanted to get back on Zoloft.

I don't think my posts are that dramatic, I mean, I have anxiety, and depression, and I come on here and talk about it and get advice from people.

And yeah I will be taking Zoloft and Dexedrine.

Anxiety sucks. I have panic attacks that come out of no where.

I can't let your comment that (with celexa) there is a side effect that messes with your heart stay unchallenged.

I'm on lex which now has the same warning. Can I just reassure those on celexa that it doesnt mess with your heart. This is exactly why this with anxiety should turn off the Internet.

Celexa is a fine safe SSRI. It has undoubtedly saved countless lives and improved millions.

If you are on very high dose celexa, talk your doctor over the next few months.

I don't know. I still haven't had a ride to the pharmacy.
Tonight has been the worst night, ever I am so scared, I don't know what to do.
I am serously about to go to the psych ward. I cant take this anymore.

None of my family even cares about me.
I am just so stressed, I don't wanna die, and Im so sick of being a hypochondriac.

Girl 21 - I find your posts very dramatic.

Have you tried CBT. Cognitive Behavioural therapy is the strongest solution we have for anxiety. Whats excellent about it is it retrains your brain. If you tried it, your outlook and I dare say your attitude to your illness would change dramatically over time. This is your solution. Grab it.
