Physical symptoms causing panic

Why is it that we feel these terrible physical symptoms even when not feeling anxious or feeling panic mentally? My cycle of this whole mess is that I feel something physical (for me it's usually chest tightness/shortness of breath or a choking feeling) out of nowhere in some of the most relaxing environments, THEN the panic sets in... not the other way around where I feel panic and then start to get terrible physical symptoms. I don't understand, and how do I cope? I feel like there is something physically wrong, even though I've been given a decently clean bill of health. My life is so limited anymore!!!! Thanks in advance for any insight/advice.

I'm dealing with those same symptoms right now (breathing, tight chest, etc.) on top of recovering from bronchitis, which really pushed up the anxiety.

I'm a firm believe in repressed emotions bringing on anxiety - especially when it comes out of nowhere.  Physical pain and anxiety - when our repressed emotions try to surface, the pain and anxiety cut it off at the pass to keep it from surfacing.  Sounds new age, but there is alot of research being done on mindbody medicine these days and it's very interesting.

The subconscious is a powerful thing. You may feel relaxed but if you have been anxious recently it is likely still mulling it over. Your limbic brain notices these things but your conscious brain doesn't. If you decrease your conscious anxiety consistently and concertedly then your subconscious will follow with time.
