Artery spasm!! help please
« on: January 07, 2012, 07:17:16 PM »
I just had an intense spasm in my neck, left side! I felt it doing it so I put my finger to it and its right where the artery is, I could feel my pulse and it was very strong. Artery spasm? Omg, I am freaking out. Should I go the ER?

I would be very surprised it was actually your artery spasming. Your neck is full of muscles that run alongside your arteries. Your pulse is stronger at your neck (that's why we can feel it there) and you could be feeling your heart pounding because you're scared. But calm down, and DO NOT go to the ER.

And coronary artery disease is, by definition, a thickening of the arteries brought on by the build up of arterial plaque. Which, guess what? Is caused by high cholesterol. You don't have CAD.

I'm going to try telling you something I tell myself all the time... You first posted about this a little over an hour ago. And yet you're still fine. If anything were happening (which it wasn't), it would have happened by now.

I have major panic attacks when I get odd twinges in my head/neck area. I know that if it WERE something serious happening, then me panicking about it isn't helping. And if it WERE something serious happening, I would know almost immediately or it would happen almost immediately.

I don't know if that helps, but you're not alone. The same panic happens to me all the time.
