loosing my mind!
« on: January 07, 2012, 05:51:05 AM »
Hi. Im a 26 yr  old married mother of two. & i believe i may suffer from anxiety. I have a two yr old and a 6 month old& one poor husband  puting up with my insanity haha! 3 months ago i had my first visit to the hospital with heart flutters, faintness, dizziness, trouble  breathing, slured speech and weak limbs. They did every blood test under the sun which all came back clear, been to a neurologist who found nothing wrong .ive had  two more identical hospital visits since and ive lost count on how many dr visits which were both a waist of money and time.
i cant look after my girls properly as theses attacks come on completley out of the blue and leave me totally exhausted. Before all this started i was healthy without any problems. Ive been known to b a bit of a worrier in the past but maybe now even more so since having my girls. Has anyone here ben having the same kind of episodes that leave you feeling exhausted for days? Im just so frustrated by all this, can anyone help? Thanx

Nope not losing your mind- you're having panic episodes.  Yours could be caused by stress.  I went through similar situations when I first started having them- EKGs and CT scans were done.  It's the worst.  I'm still going through it and sometimes the only thing that helps is finding someone to talk you through it.  My significant other is awesome at dealing with my crazy 0104.  Sometimes I just need to lie down with him and breathe deep and have him talk me through it.  Maybe this would help you?

breathing exercises help alot and patience. of course at the time of panic it will feel impossible. just try to stay strong and try to focus on your children because sometimes that will help too.

Hi

If you have had a clear bill of health thats great news. I was also a worrier etc but anxiety can quickly pick up from were worry and stress left off you nerves can sometimes just get overloaded and their think 'we cant keep up we need a rest ' :)

ironically calming exercise like yoga and stretching and beathing exercises can help also it doesnt mention if you have caffiene if you do a gradual reduction can also help some people.

hope you feel better soon :)

If your symptoms started 3 months after the birth of your second child, it's likely a Postpartum Mood Disorder.  Most people are familiar with Postpartum Depression, but it runs the spectrum from depression, to anxiety, OCD, even psychosis.  I would look for a therapist in your area who specializes in Postpartum issues.  I would also suggest a Postpartum Doula if you can find one.  They come to your home and spend a few hours with you at a time to help out with chores, and also just help you talk through your feelings.  Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

It's sounds like panic attacks to me, if I were you I would go to a shrink or doctor to get a diagnosis, just to make sure that's what it is. When I'm having a panic attack I tell a person who's around me at the time how I'm feeling (just in case it's not a panic attack, then there is someone who knows and keeps an eye at you and can call an ambulance if neccesary), and then i check my watch. The worst part passes (for me) after about ten minutes. In those ten minutes I keep talking with that person and just concentrate on breathing.
