Dating website for people with anxiety
« on: January 06, 2012, 04:01:31 AM »
Ive never had a problem getting a girlfriend, only keeping them as they slowly realize my anxiety restricts me from doing any fun things that people like to do. Such as going out to eat/movie/concerts etc. Some girlfriends try to be understanding but eventually its just too much and who can blame them I wouldn't want to hang out with someone who is borderline agoraphobic at times either if I was them.

Seeing as I have honestly never met someone in real life that has had anxiety problems like myself, I have always wondered what it would be like to date someone that is in the same boat mentally as you are. What do you all think? Do you think it would be worse and the anxiety would feed off one another or would it be great to have someone that is sympathetic and understanding? Someone should make a eharmony for people with anxiety/depression/panic disorder. Then again Im sure there are some of you with experience in this department that would say maybe its not such a good idea. Just a thought, curious what people think about it.

No idea why a good comedy sketch comes to mind. Two agoraphobics going on a blind date. Each showing up, blowing into brown paper bags. I'm agoraphobic myself. I could just imagine it. You go first. No you go first. No, you go, etc, etc. Certainly would be a fun date if nothing else. But I am sure there would be ways around some problems. As you both may have places you can't go. Things you can't do. Just a case of checking each others list in advance of a date. Then seeing what is left to do. Which might be sitting in watching tv. There would some cases were people would say two people with anxiety would not make great parteners. Conflicting problems. Although you would both understand the problems, it would be like having twice the load thrust upon you. So in that sense I couldn't see it work out at all. If you both accepted there was so much you couldn't do. Maybe had a trial run at first. Because even seeing each other might be hard. As each one of you might not like to travel. Thus you might not be able to meet up. Then where to meet would become a problem too. It would have its downsides. But if you could work around them it may just work out fine for you both. Share medication stories. I'm on the blue ones. I'm on the red ones. I take two at night. Got you, I take three.  :laugh3: Oh I could just picture it.

Haha! I think you may have just come up with a great Saturday Night Live skit. Im not entirely convinced it would always go like that. But the image you painted in my head about that first date is really funny haha.

There's actually a dating website for mentally ill people, called No Longer Lonely.  I think it's better to date someone who has their own mental issues so they understand that it's not just something you can ignore until it goes away or "snap out of it."
