Depression is back. I thought I was better.
« on: December 28, 2011, 03:03:11 PM »
Went for at least a month feeling normal and taking on a lot of things successfully. All of the sudden I am waking up at 4am with severe panic, take an ativan, and lay down to my head spinning for the remaining hours til daybreak. I feel pressure in my head and in a state of cloudiness, with all of the depression I had before. I am afraid of my feelings. They are killing me. I had faith but in the face of this my faith in God goes out the window, and I feel hopeless. This just came back 3 days ago. I was fine before that. Anxiety Zone has been a great help. Thank you to all of you.

Setbacks can be very common with depression. It all depends on you deal with the setback. To think ' here we go again ' will only serve to bring you down even further. If you look at how good you were doing and say to yourself ' that is what I can do ' and ' that is what I want to do again '. You are feeding your mind positive thoughts instead of negative thoughts. We all have setbacks. It is how we view them that will make the next stages be what they are. Never say never. You were doing so good. There is nothing stopping you from doing that good once more. Only some negative thoughts that tell you that you are back where it all began once more. Get rid of those thoughts. Change them for more postive thoughts about how good you had been doing. You will be able to get back to doing good again. Have some faith. Believe in yourself. Don't just give up. No matter how bad it may feel right now. There is always a road back. We are forever tested. Take that from me. Just keep on fighting and you will win out come the end of the day.

It's like a nasty roller coaster ride, one of worse nightmares.

Man this just happened to me today. IT was such a rapid loss of hope, going from being hopeful for the first time then having it go down the drain. It was like I felt love for the first time and then lost it to fear again.

I think those of us who have depression or anxiety tend to focus more on the negative than the positive.  We can be doing great for awhile, then have 1 negative event or one bad day and BOOM!  All of a sudden we start focusing on how bad everything is and get caught up in that.  Try focusing on the period of time when you were feeling better and be gentle with yourself.
