fatigue and panic attacks
« on: December 19, 2011, 10:25:01 PM »
So just now I got really tired.  I mean like really tired and it scared me.  I'm not in a great place in my life right now but I'm working on it.  I got so tired I had a panic attack just now.  I took half a Klonopin and breathed into a paper bag.  It stopped and I'm still tired and I think I'll lie down.  Does anyone else deal with this?  I hate it!

Well, I don't have extreme fatigue after a panic attack. But, lately I have been very tired. So tired a fall asleep having conversations.  I think we put our bodies through so much it just can't keep up.  It's understandable....don't worry too much....well, try not to at least...if we figure out how to calm down, we will be awake all night! I have had this issue on a couple of occasions.  Once I had it while driving and it scared the life out of me.  I posted it up on the boards just as you did.  The feeling of just absolute extreme fatigue and tiredness, almost to the point of feeling like I am about to pass out or die.  I also went into panic mode thinking the worse.  That was nearly a year ago and I am still healthy and alive.  Very scary to experience, especially when our mind starts going off thinking what is this?  Just wanted to say that I can relate and you are not alone on this.

It's not what's happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it's your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you're going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny.

My psychologist said to me that feeling extremely tired means that I started to recover from anxiety. It happened to me last month when I was feeling much better. My anxiety and panic came back two weeks ago and i dont feel tired at all, so it makes sence

But it seems like the op was meaning that the tiredness came before the attack and the tiredness is what brought on the attack. I can see if you're tired after an attack--I always thought that was b/c it's so exhausting. But being tired first--I kind of have that.

Thanks phix95....that is exactly what I meant.  Being tired brings on the panic attacks!

Usually I get really tired after a panic. If I haven't had one it's stress related. But yes I experience that on occasion.

I think it's important to realize that when we have anxiety our bodies are always on alert - we're "ready for action".  There are times when I have nervousness - 24/7. I wake up with a nervous feeling and it persists throughout the day.  Well, no wonder I feel like collapsing.  Our bodies aren't designed to put up with this sort of thing on a day to day basis.
