Is this possible with IBS?
« on: July 11, 2007, 10:24:14 AM »
Is it possible to have constipation and diarreah in the same day or within a few hours? I've been having it lately and i'm pretty sure its cancer or large bowel obstruction ;*)
Just wondering if any one else has had it or if its even humanly possible.
Thanks so much for always reading my rants guys x00x

I presume you mean hard stools and diarrhoea in the same day? Yes, I have them all mixed up in time like that. The gut works irregularly with IBS so there is all sorts of pieces of crap of various consistency hanging around and working its way out. I think diarrhoea sometimes even overtakes hard stuff!  :laugh3:

A sanderella is a mythical creature in Algerian folklore, similar to a mermaid. It is used as a cute nickname.

I have IBS and this forum is VERY helpful and comforting.

Undiagnosed IBS can be very scary. But once you know what it is you can just deal with it and that tends to make the symptoms die down.

And yes...you can have the runs and be constipated in the same day. Your bowels are contracting at irregular rates and causing this. If it is IBS stay away from SUGAR and simple carbs (even fruit for a few days.) They cause gas and cramping as the sugars over feed the bacteria in your gut. As I have said before in these forums...my IBS tends to flair up in the summer when my allergies do. I also eat tons more fruit in the summer. In my case Bing cherries (which I love) tend to over feed the party in my gut.

Hope that helps some.
