Let's help each other out by describing your GERD pain.
« on: December 11, 2011, 12:58:45 AM »
So anyways my doc says i have gerd, my heart sounds normal and I'm 19 so he really didn't do anything else. But i'm convinced it's something else because it feels like something solid is in the way in there when I swallow, and it hurts most of the time. It's also no dead center of my chest but to the right, and lower than my sternum. Please feel free to describe your symptoms.

My GERD symptoms are almost exactly the same. I get the feeling like things are caught and I have pain in my chest. I used to throw up acid sometimes too but that hasn't happened in a while, thank God. I take Dexilant and it's worked pretty well so far...I can eat tomato products and mildly spicy foods without having a horrible panic attack now.

I was on dexilant for awhile, worked amazing except it gave me awful intestinal cramps. Aciphex is what I'm trying now, but I've also been a lot better with my smoking, drinking and anxiety, which im sure didnt help the reflux.

My GERD symptoms just feel like my stomach and esophagus are on fire.

I'm on Pantoparazole right now and it works like a charm. :)

Your symptoms are very common for GERD. I had that problem for quite some time ... the feeling of food getting stuck in my chest. I ended up having an endoscopy, and they discovered a small Schatzki ring, which is scar tissue caused by the acid over a period of time and a small hiatal hernia, both of which can cause these feelings. They dilated the ring, and it feels much better, though, sometimes I still get the feeling if I eat too much, too fast, or the wrong foods. Are you on any medications for it?

I have had GERD for about 4 years. Mine is very well-controlled if I take my Prilosec everyday. If I don't, it starts to wear off and my throat feels like it's on fire. Not a very pleasant experience lol.
