Weird GAD symptoms?
« on: July 09, 2007, 04:34:29 PM »
I started a topic earlier and think I put it in the wrong place, sorry about that.........I was wondering if anyone had ever experienced any of these symptoms with GAD.

1. strange ear sounds (tinnitus)
2. headaches
3. constant hot flush feeling on face
4. days on end of nausea
5. warm sensation in throat (Dr. says is too much stomach acid from anxiety)
6. tired all the time

odd thing is if I get up and get busy they don't go away but sometimes they will lessen while other times I feel ok and I might be out shopping and out of the blue I start to feel yucky, this happen to anyone else?

Used to.  All the time.  Typical anxiety symptoms.  Have you seen a doctor about it yet?

I am really sensitive to the antidepressants, so when I start one I start at a very low dose then increase slowly about once a week.  I takes longer to get to a therapeutic level  but reduces the sideeffects.  You can ask you doc to give you something that works quickly for the anxiety to help you get through this initial period.  I usually take Klonopin.

Hang in there, it will get better.

I agree.  Sometimes the fear of the medication can cause anxiety, so try to relax and I would also ask the doctor for something fast acting in the short term to get through the first few weeks.  The symptoms you describe are very common, so you can count on most everyone here having had those symptoms at one time or another.  I for one have had all of them and still have some at times, but rarely with medication and relaxation.

Keep in touch with us and let us know how you are doing!

I know this might sound silly but I have felt better today after reading all your comments than I have felt in months. I can't ask family and friends about this stuff and the few that I do ask are clueless which only makes you feel more alone. Since Dec. of 06 I have lived with all this stuff on a daily basis and felt my life start to crumble around me and no I am not feeling sorry for myself, that is just simple fact. I am not sure but I think I have lived with GAD for many years but it just never got this far out of hand, I was diagnosed with IBS almost 10 years ago after a death in the family and off and on over the years had things happen when I was under stress but this time it got me and has not let go, it is there 24/7. Thanks so much for the post, it helps a great deal just to KNOW that these symptoms are not just "me" and that it makes sense to someone else  :happy0151:

You are so right!  Sometimes all you need is that others have felt the way you have it makes you feel less alone.  I love being able to discuss these topics with others.  Sometimes I can offer help and other times people help me.  This forum is a truly great tool in my battle with anxiety.  On top of that, you won't find a more compasionate caring bunch!

Take care,

Hey Alwaysdown,

You are not alone and everything you have described I have gotten numerous times and am still fighting with some of those symptoms everyday. Now my headaches or whatever they are are back and I am trying so hard to not think about them because I had a real hard time a couple of months ago with them. Like you said when I am busy doing things I take my mind off the pain and it seems to be gone but when I stop for a second and think "wow I don't feel the pain anymore" boom it comes right back and is there. My dad has lived with GAD since he was a teenager and he keeps telling me it will get easier and better but I just keep asking when since its been almost 5 years. But I am trying to stay postive which is oftentimes hard to do but just hang in there. We are here for you and believe me any symptom you feel weird or not someone almost always has felt that way also! Just give a post and someone will try to put your mind at ease! Take care

Hey dizziegirl3,

Do you take medication?  I cannot imagine living with GAD and my depression for 5 years.  I hope that does not happen to me this time. I've had episodes and they go away for years just to come back - I'm asking about the meds because I always get on Effexor and while this time it seems to be taking longer, I want to remain hopeful that it will go away again and not stay like yours for 5 years - I feel for you.......and hope you the best.  Did your dad take or does he take medication for this?  Sometimes anxiety is felt differently for different people.  I can take a lot to make me anxious and still be strong through it - BUT when it gets to the point where I am now, it's hard.

Hi lkb,

I spoke with the doctor and she told me to go ahead and wait until Thursday she had one last test coming back (thyroid) so if nothing shows up there then tomorrow will be the big day. Although I am kind of wondering what to do, as weird as it sounds I have felt really well the last few days it helped me sooooooooooo much reading all your post and finding out that so many had suffered from the same physical symptoms, it seems like when I let that worry go I started to feel better day by day. Don't get me wrong I am by far 100% but you would not believe how much better I honestly do feel. I can't thank you all enough! I have been able to eat the last couple of days and today I have had no nausea at all, my strength is better I was able to help my daughter today get the babies room ready (He will be here in September  :happy0151: ) I know it could all crash around me tomorrow but this is the first time in months that things are slowly getting better and not worse. I wish I could give you all a HUGE hug lol This forum is a God send for people suffering with GAD, it is like group therapy without a price tag.

         Thanks again,

Maybe not "Alwaysdown" because things are looking up :)

Your list is very familiar......it seems to go in cycles for me.  Sometimes I feel like, "How can I possibly cope with this any longer......"  And then it will be gone for a long period of time.  Sites like this one have helped me alot...as well as exercise.  good luck and keep us posted. lamy

I've had these same symptoms, on and off for a while now too. Definately seems to be a new stage in anxiety for me. The sickness and headaches really get you down. I hope you feel better and, even though it's a massive cliche, try not to worry too much. Take care :)
