Back on celexa and anxiety is increasing.
« on: December 05, 2011, 09:17:28 AM »
I know that there is always a chance when taking these sort of pills that your anxiety can increase the first few weeks you are on them but I don't remember my anxiety increasing the first go around with celexa. I'm not sure if I didn't realize it because I was already bad off with anxiety the first time and couldn't tell a difference or what but having been pretty much anxiety free for 6 months and now having anxiety everyday again it's very upsetting and I'm getting the hopless feelings I once had before treatment a year ago. Anyone had experience with getting back on the same AD after a break? I am worried like crazy it won't work like it did the first time. This is driving me crazy waiting everyday and not knowing because I am so impaitent lol. I am on day 7 of 5mg but it feels like a month.

Hi. 7 days on 5mg is not the therapeutic level so it's no surprise you're still suffering from the anxiety. Presumably, your doctor is easing you in and then upping it to 10 or 20mg?

I can understand your worries. I recently decided to use Celexa again after a 2 year break and I'm pretty sure I'm less tolerable of it this time round - I reacted to 20mg (increased drowsiness and sexual dysfunction) this time so had to take 10mg, but it still worked at stripping the anxiety away. But keep going with Celexa, and hey, if it's not so good you could try another SSRI.

Thanks for responding. Yes I am slowly going up on my medicine because if I don't I end up stopping it because of the side effects. This is day 9 on 5mg and still dealing with increased anxiety. I know I am wanting this medicine to hurry and work because I am so impatient and dealing with anxiety again like this is depressing. Maybe once i increase to 10mg which is what I had luck with in the past the anxiety will fade away.
