Moderator Positions Now Available

Greetings

Anxiety Zone is currently seeking several additional Moderators to assist with the management of the chat room and forum (but especially the chat room). Whichever position is preferred, moderation abilities are "global" and so it will be possible to moderate both areas of the forum at any time.

Being a Moderator is an important responsibility that requires patience, maturity and people skills. Since Moderators represent the site itself, it is vitally important that they set a good example for other members and assist them when issues arise as well as keeping the chat room safe and free of spam, vulgar language, trolling, harassment and other inappropriate behavior and/or content. Being a Moderator is a volunteer position. Thank you in advance for your service and dedication to the community!

Moderators are appointed based on a number of criteria:

All types of Moderators should...

* Greet new members and make them feel welcome
* Possess good verbal/communication and people skills.
* Be fair, impartial, reasonable, measured, consistent and open-minded.
* Be professional and courteous at all times.
* Be active on the forums or chat rooms on a daily basis.
* Have a friendly, compassionate, supportive disposition.
* Be dependable, responsible and trustworthy.
* Be mature, level-headed and a "hands-on" type of person.
* Be ambitious, motivated and results-oriented.
* Be a good example/role model for other Anxiety Zone members
* Respect other member's privacy (this includes the privacy of any/all administrators, Moderators and members). Use the PM system to discuss sensitive information and only discuss it with the person entitled to know about it.
* Be willing to deal with spam, solicitations, diffuse/mediate/de-escalate disputes (when they arise) and play an active role in YOUR community here.
* Be a "team player", willing to keep in touch and collaborate with staff and other Moderators here as the need arises using the various tools available.
* Have been an active member for 2 months or longer.

I would like to offer up my time as a Mod.

I have been active on this site for several years and I have been very active in the chat room for a little over a year now. I am a constant presence in the room. My times that I am usually in the room is later in the night/ earlier in the day for most people as I live in the Alaskan Time Zone. I have suffered with Panic, Health Anxiety, Depression and Cardiophobia for 12 years now and am finally on my healing path.

I would like to think that I would be a good fit because of my constant presence in the chat, I am well known. I am a hands on person and I very much enjoy working with the various people who come onto the site for help. To me, it's giving back what was given to me. I am good at settling disagreements and am not heavy handed. As a mod I can contribute a personality that is both down to earth, willing to enforce rules, but likeable at the same time. In my own experience as being a leader in various things such as team sports and jobs respect is earned for leaders not through enforcement. As such, I want to earn the respect of our members to be a trusted leader/helper.

I am mainly interested in being a chat room mod, although I can help anywhere on the site. I am most active here and as stated previously, a well known person there.

I would like to apply for a moderator position. I am interested in chat moderator but I can also moderate on the forum. I have been told I would make a great mod and I am on the chat very often. I am an open minded person and I can resolve issues in a timely and considerate fashion without any bias and I would be able to keep chat a place that people like to come to. I come to anxietyzone chat to help others but I have gotten tremendous help from the sight and I would like to be able to do that for other members of the chat.

I would like to suggest that Cuchculan be consider as a Moderator.  He has tons of experience and just look how many posts he has made...let alone the number of Recommendations he has received.  I think he would make an excellent Mod. 

Participation in the forums, in my opinion, is important.  If one only spends time in Chat, many of the members can't get a sense as to how well that person would work in the whole forum.  We aren't just a Chat room...that is just a small portion of what goes on here.  I know you are looking for someone who will work Chat, but a well rounded participant would be my preference and I feel Cuchculan represents that definition admirably.

Well thank you very much for saying so. Here would be my deal. I don't be on the site as much as others. Yes, I may post a lot. Use the room for a couple of hours in the evening time. So if they can't find anybody else who they think fits the role I would gladly help out. As long as it is known in advance that I don't live on the site. I have my certain hours for site usage. So if you are stuck finding anybody GG, then you can throw my name into the mix. I won't tell the world how great I am. None of that pushing myself to be voted for. If needed I am here. If you find others, then that is great. I am sure the site will still work as good as ever. Whoever gets the roles. Good luck to all.

I would definitely vote for Cuch too. He doesn't spend much time in chat, but the advice he gives on the forums is great. He is a well liked  person who says exactly what he thinks, and gains respect for it. A moderator needs respect. Without respect you have nothing. Although Cuch doesnt spend too much time in chat, he shows online most the time and could easily be contacted if there was any problems in the chat room. He totally gets my vote.

Having somebody who 'lives' in chat isnt always a good thing. You need somebody in the chat room who commands respect. I for one, am sorry to see the previous moderators gone -both were regular chat users who had lots of friends in the room and helped other people immensely. When you become a mod, it's different. There is no preferential treatment. You are there to make the chat room a safe, welcoming place and to  deal with 'anyone' who tries to make it anything different to that, appropriately.

I agree with what Constant and Jane have said. Cuch would make a good moderator. He can command respect when needs be, and I feel people will listen to him.

Cuch would be a great choice. I'm not sure if he'd like to do it or not, but he was one of the first that came to mind for me when considering who may be a good fit.

I would be interested in being a moderator because even though I don't participate often (usually just when I need to talk to people who
understand). I do bring a lifetime as an anxiety sufferer and experience with therapists, psychiatrists, self-help books, etc. I feel like I am a nurturing person and that it would do me good to help others.

I would like to be a mod and help the room and board I know i haven't been around much as of late however I have had some personal issues to deal with. With that done I will be around a lot more. I have had panic disorder for 10yrs now I've learn a lot of ways to handle it and calm others that have panic or anxiety disorders my 10yr old daughter has had panic disorder for 4yrs now and I'm the one that helps her threw hers. I am doing better lately and I love helping ppl

I am responding to the email i received earlier today. 

I know I am not an active member of this community, but i would like to be.  I am a very people person who only wants to help others.  I have have anxiety for a good ammount of time and have learned to cope with it naturally without any given medications.  I have been a moderator before and have ran my own website as well as forum.  I am fully aware of the requirements as far as leadership and how far setting an example can go.  Ive always been one of the more respectful people and would really enjoy to help others in their struggle.

I am 23 years old with a complete open mind.  I can talk to anyone about any topic.  I have been a store manager since i was 18.  My leadership qualities very rarely get matched.  I currently am a store manager at GNC(General Nutrition Center).  I know about health and what could help people naturally. 

I personally have been struggling with my own issues as far as just being bored at home because im too busy to have a life.  Id appreciate this chance to become a part of this community and help others.  My highest goal in life is to help people and set a major example for others to follow.

For a 23 year old I am very mature and I really dont have much in common with people my age.  I honestly feel it is because of my maturity level that I have trouble with my peers.
(if someone is doing something stupid i cant help but try and lead them in the right direction.  Most people dont take advice in a positive manner)

Hi i would love to apply for the position for a chat moderator ,as i love to help people,i had anxiety agoraphobia, for eight years,but i'm now better with the help with therapy,the therapy has stop now.and now i can do a lot things,i am able to go out again,and enjoy life again.i would love to gave advice to people with anxiety or agoraphobia,as i know it hard to beat took me a year with therapy

i have found the chat room to be invaluble to me since learning about my own anxiety, i am on everyday and have built some really close relationships, also i am from england so i run on english time zone which is when there is very little mod activity. I love to help people with their problems and love to listen, i will make sure people get a warm welcome and are protected throughout there time on the chatroom

Hi I am interested in the moderator position that you have open i have experience in helping people and in therapy and i love to help people out i have lots of free time that i spend online i take classes online and i also work from online. I have had many anxiety issues that i have overcome in the past and i think that i would always help someone to make the right decision and to think level headed and back to reality and to help people to over come there fears and phobia's as well as just issues . Altho I'm very new to this site, i would love to be considered for this. I do possess alot of ppl skills through my last job as supervisor. I have had ptsd for 7 yrs now and i have now reached a point where it is managable. i also have experience in depression, social, general anxiety as well as self harming and other illnesses. i have many life skills. i supported many many ppl online on another anxiety site i used to use. Ppl where drawn to me because i never take sides, i listen, observe and treat everyone equally. i dont do cliques.

regardless of that i also do like to laugh lol. i always try to make light of a situation in order to defuse them(if that is poss)

I just wanted to renew my application for a mod position, if necessary I can be much more active on the forums. I am on the chatroom every day. I've had many people tell me I would make a great mod and that I should apply. I do meet the qualifications listed on the announcement of a moderator position.
