Worried about weird symptoms!
« on: November 10, 2011, 06:47:56 PM »
Something really unfortunate just happened to me...I was reading a blog, and all of a sudden it started talking about a girl who was just diagnosed with lymphoma (which ironically my grandma was also diagnosed with 1 month ago.) Anyway, it was saying that her symptom was a bad cough from January -August. And eventually it got so bad that doctors did testing and found lymphoma.

Now I am starting to really freak out. Last year was my first year at college and around November I developed this cough that was pretty scary . I would randomly burst out into coughing fits and at the end of it I would like gag. (I know gross.) But anyway, it lasted until like the end of January, and then it kind of just disappeared. Since about April I have lost around 15 pounds (though I have been eating healthier) and sometimes get this on and off back aches. Do you think that cough from last year could have been a symptom of lymphoma and I just didn't know it? This girl I read about and my grandma didn't seem particularly sick...Also since last year with this cough episode I have been to the doctor three times for a full check up. Do you think the cough was just a "first year college effect" kind of thing? This is really freaking me out right now. You think after a year I would have been noticeably more ill? Any help pleeeaassse. I want to go out and have a good weekend like a normal kid my age..

I think you should go out and enjoy yourself. Your cough was probably just a cold or allergies.
Weight loss is normal when you change to a healthier diet. Odds are your check ups would  have
detected an issue.
