Heart rate
« on: October 29, 2011, 03:28:54 AM »
How high does your HR get during the worst of the worst (or best of the best) panic attack? Ive seen mine up at 180! Pretty high, brief as it may be.

One important thing to note is that nobody has ever died from a panic attack. It may bring on bad feelings. Speed that heart of yours up. But the fact is that what is happening with the body is happening to protect us. The body go into a sort of defensive mode. Blood might rush from one part of the body to another. You may feel cold in certain parts of your body. Hot in other parts. This is the mind trying to make sense of what is going on and protecting us. If you keep checking the likes of your heart rate you will become fixated with it. Keep doing it over and over again. It will become a major problem for you. It is best to ignore such things. Take a few deep breaths. Try find something to do. And your heart rate will slow down again before you know it.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.
