For the Ladies.. Is this perimenopause or what?
« on: October 26, 2011, 05:57:01 PM »
So last month, the week before my cycle, I felt severly run down. I attributed it to the medication I was taking. It lifted when my period came. Then two weeks ago, around the time I would have ovulated, I had two days where I didnt feel well, and my temperature was like 99.2. No real other symptoms. I figured it was allergies or a tiny bug or maybe hormones.

Now yesterday I was very tired. Granted, I have had a lot going on. My motherinlaw has had a lot of doctor visits that I am taking her to, little one fighting a cold, all three kids are in soccer playoffs and are always at practice, son having asthma, etc. Yesterday I figured I was just tired because I didnt sleep well. I had an issue with my sons teacher and was unable to sleep. Plus, before my period I often dont sleep well. Today I woke up tired, my eyes burny. I have been good about not taking my temperature. But I decided to take it. 99.2. Again, I know this is technically not a fever. But I have had bronchitis with a temp that high and no real symptoms besides fatigue.

I took tylenol and carried on, because no one else was going to pick up my kids from school. Went to park for an hour. Thought maybe its also allergies although I have a slight drip and nothing more but the burny eyes. Took it again after four hours and it said 99.5. I am getting scared I am sick. I have to watch my two baby nieces tomorrow. And this weekend my kids have soccer playoffs and halloween parties. I cannot be sick. But after getting 99.5 twice I took in ten minutes later and got 98.9 twice. What is that? I am expecting my period in three to five days. Can this just be hormones? All I have is burning eyes fatigue and maybe a very slight sore throat. I just dont know.

Has anyone experienced this before their period? I am tired of feeling this way. My husband is tired of me being tired. I had a thyroid check in July. How can i possibly always be sick?

YES.  It happened to me about eight times before I finally connected it to my periods. The exact same thing - I felt like I was on the verge of getting sick; I felt really run down, really exhausted and I had a low-grade fever, but then it would go away when  my period started.  I looked it up... apparently it's very common, especially among women with hormone imbalances and/or in perimenopause.

I did a bit of an experiment before my last two periods - I started up an exercise regime with aerobic exercise and it totally worked.  I felt great before my period - no pre-period illness, fatigue or anything.

Thank you SO much for answering. How old are you if you dont mind me asking? I will be 42 next week. I went to the gym Monday and felt awesome. Then this started and I didnt go. I was afraid I would get worse. Maybe I will go tomorrow. Thank you. I am relieved.

39 - basically the same age in hormonal terms. Uch... isn't this fun?  I'm about to go out for a run right now!

I will try and work out tomorrow. I find when the weather is not nice it makes it worse. I feel worse. Tomorrow torrential rain. But I will try and see if it works. I know working out also boosts your immunity. I am also going to keep track of my temps for a month to see if there is a pattern.
