I am so scared of having ALS or some neurological disease I feel dead already

Jerry, I'm pretty new to this board so I've just started reading about your journey w/fear over ALS. There's such a startling difference in tone between the posts you write when you are in the middle of extreme fear and the posts that are written when you are calmer, more rational and thinking from a "big picture" perspective.  I guess that is true for all of us who suffer from HA... You are obviously such an intelligent, deep thinking, and very eloquent person.

I urge you to print your post from October 23, 2011, 01:43:45 PM where you very clearly (and correctly) say that you are actually living a worse life w/this obsession and fear than the fellow who really has ALS and skied for his last time. You also said that you want to be remembered for living and being a good father and husband who enjoyed life rather than as someone who wasted decades fearing the worst that may or may not ever come. Right now, it sounds as though that wonderfully crystal-clear moment of truth has again taken a back seat to some new symptom that's caught your attention. It happens. But you can help yourself by re-reading that amazing post. Get back in touch with those feelings again. That is the REAL Jerry. Print it and keep it with you. Don't lose yourself in the fear. You have so much to offer and a beautiful life that deserves to be treasured and lived to the fullest.

Thanks... just wrote from the heart. This is a terrific forum - I'm grateful to have found it. Funny how we can be so compassionate to others yet make things so hard on ourselves, hm?
