40 mg Celexa and feel like I'm getting worse...
« on: October 09, 2011, 06:42:46 PM »
My dose of Celexa got upped to 40 mg about a month and a half ago and now all of a sudden my anxiety and OCD symptoms seem to be getting worse. What should I suggest to my doctor? She told me the 40 mg should be all it took to manage my symptoms, but so far it doesn't seem to be working.

When did you start taking Celexa, and at what dose? Are you on any other meds (for anything)?

I'm not on any other kind of meds and I've been on Celexa for about 3 months. Started at 20 mg and now I'm at 40.

Hi,
In Australia, Citalopram is only indicated for Depression.
It has not been approved to be used for OCD, Panic Disorder, or Relapsed Prevention, since it has been in the market for about 11 years.

I guess different countries have different indications for Citalopram.

I can not advice you further. Maybe you should tell your Doctor, that Citalopram does not treat your symptom of OCD.
And also you have been on it for 3 months.
The maximum dose of Citalopram is 60mg/day.

I would advise that, you should talk and discuss with your doctor about this, as he is the one who knows your condition better.

Kind regards,
