New Features for Private Messages...

A few new features have been added recently. These features include...

Enhanced PM notifications:

Pop-ups are turned off by default and must be enabled in your profile in order to use this new feature - Profile>Modify Profile> Personal Messaging. Tick the box next to: Show a popup when I receive new messages. Note: these are not the annoying popup windows we have all come to despise. They use CSS and HTML to produce an attractive and unobtrusive 0457-style bar with a few options that appears at the top of the forum when you recieve a new message.

PM Read/Unread status icons:

Find out if your PM has been read by the recipient. My Messages>Messages>Sent Items. At the top (under Date/Subject/To) and on the left you will see envelope icons next to each message. Closed envelope icon=unread. Open envelope icon=read. Closed envelope with red arrow indicates that you have already replied to the message.

Other private messaging features that may be added at a later date when compatible versions become available include...

* Audible PM alerts.
* PM attachments.
* PM auto-responders.
* An increase in the number of PM's allowed per hour.

Hi,

I noticed the PM unread status icon this morning - what a fab idea! Now we can tell who has read what and who hasn't yet. I'd sent a PM a few days ago to someone, never got a response and began to think they'd decided not to answer me: this morning i discovered they simply haven't read it yet. I can see this new improvement on its own is going to be very useful.
