Im not sure if this is the right place but i was just wondering how long do you have to be on benzos (say .5mg or 1mg) pills for, and then stop cold turkey, in order to feel withdrawl symptoms?

reason im asking is because i was on them for 3 wks and i just stopped and im getting weird symptoms that could be related, and my doc never told me anything about this.  I was assuming that its because it normally takes months of usage before withdrawl symptoms will happen because the body gets used to it...just curious if anyone knows? maybe i should get back on them..how long do withdrawl symptoms last if its only a couple weeks i can probably make it

Withdrawl is usually fast.  The medication will be out of your system in less than 24 hours, but it takes time for your brain to start producing the GABA again.  In your case, most likely the withdrawl is over and you are simply feeling the previous anxiety you had before taking the medication.  The withdrawl is swift and nasty, so you would feel terribly ill for a few days and it would gradually taper off over a couple weeks.  Anything past that is probably just the return of your original anxiety.

Take care,
OE

You are either having rebound anxiety from quitting cold turkey(which is not suggested or recoommended) or have jsut fallen back into your original anxiety mode that you were initially treated for. If it gets unbearable, after a few weeks, you MAY have to go back to a small doseage and either taper from there or remain at that doseage.
Always speak to your Doctor about those types of decisions.
Good Luck and let us know how you are doing.
