Hypochondria running wild.
« on: September 26, 2011, 09:19:29 PM »
Hey there so I've been 4 weeks without going to a hospital. Which is like damn near a world record. However the past few days have been difficult for me to say the least. Yesterday i was helping put up a chain link fence, so i was tightning an loosing and tightning and loosing bolts, plus moving heave fencing etc. I had dinner at their house and felt nauseated afterwards. Went home and slept off and on for a few hours. Then my friend called me wanting to go for a walk for a while so we went on about an hour walk, did some swinging on the swingsets w/e when we got back into the car i noticed my right arm felt really heavy and weak feeling as if it had been overused. So i called ask a nurse when i got home they were concerned about stroke etc. wanted me to come in and i was on my way there when it hit me that i had been using muscles i dont use. and thats probably what it was. So i ended up not going in coming home and goign to bed. Got up today did some pitter pattering around. Cleaned a bit etc. I then went over to a friends house to do some work and i ended up sitting in a chair on the porch waiting for about an hour. well my back started to feel really hot like i was in the sun I got up and noticed the sun was reflecting off a window to the back of the chair where i was sitting. So I ended it up blaming it on that. However after moving out of the sun the feeling has not gone away and my back feels really tense from my butt up to my neck. I have nothing to blame it on and am just worried about it? Thoughts? I'd rather not go into the hospital over this right now as I'm having an mri soon to check out the full left sided cold feeling from about 4 weeks back. I'm just worried something is wrong with the temperature sensory part of my brain.

The tense feeling in your back that goes up to your neck, is probably caused by the same thing that made your arm feel weak and overused..you were using more than just your arm muscles during that time, for sure.  Muscles are always more sore the following day after activity than they were on the day you actually used them.

Have you ever worked out at the gym and felt good that day, but woke up the next  morning to discover muscles hurt that you never even knew you had??  :laugh3:  Same thing going on here.  You are fine!!

Pat yourself on the back for turning around and thinking logically yesterday, instead of going to the hospital.  Keep up that logical thinking now and don't let the HA monster get a hold of you  :happy0151:

You'd be surprised at what muscles are being used while just swinging or doing random activities. Just because you didn't swing with your back it doesn't mean those muscles weren't used! Also, something else that can bring on your feelings in your back is your own anxiety. Worrying about the symptoms and focusing on them can exacerbate them. Try to stay rational. You're doing a great job! If your symptoms become worse and rapid, then yes, I'd advise an ER visit. However, you sound just fine to me.
