Limbs going numb at night
« on: September 08, 2011, 11:51:17 AM »
Is it a good rule of thumb that if the numbness goes away when you wake up that you don't need to worry about it?  This only started happening after the anxiety kicked in 3 weeks ago (or i just started noticing it).  Anybody notice increased limb numbness while sleeping when anxiety is high?  Thanks.

Hey bud, yeah, I've had weird numbness at night, like from lying down to waking up. From legs to fingers to even my tongue. Crazy nonsense... however, after a few minutes max of waking up and shaking them around, they'd return to normal. Classic anxiety. I'd assume that if it stayed like that for a long period of time that that would warrant seeing a doctor about. But otherwise, pretty typical ha.

I didn't expect to see a post like this because when I'm heading for a major Anxiety attack my toes get freezing cold. Then a bunch of other symptoms emerge. Such as, hot and cold flashes, feeling like there is electrical current running through my body, etc...

I get that too  and to top it off my arm or leg feels pretty painful for a while afterward too.  my son talks about it happening to him as well.  I find it happens more when I've been living anxiously.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.
