I am 27. I have been dealing with panic attacks and anxiety for the past year. I had several panic attacks in my teenage years (didn't know what they were, but definetly scary) and a couple in my early twenties. They didn't really bother me so much because they were so few and far between and afterward I was left feeling normal and anxiety free. I am now dealing with anxiety in my every day life. This site is so great by the way, it really helps to vent here and get advice, unless you've been through it it's hard to understand.

26 but have been dealing with it off and on since I was about 16. But since I have had children ( 3 in the last year and a half) mine is at an all time high. I think it is the whole going from being a carefree young person to having the responsiblity of being a wife AND mother. Not only do I worry about myself, but now I have them to worry about. I like what someone said earlier about growing up and realizing how fragile life is. As you grow older, you see so many people pass away or get diseases and you wonder, why not me? That could be me any day, when in fact we may live long healthful (except for anxiety) lives.

Do you think that most people outgrow their anxieties or haven't others my age (61) started using the internet yet?

Seems like mine have matured and don't bother me as much, but they haven't gone away and realizing for real that I won't live forever has added some new ones.

I'm 23, and I've been living with anxiety since I was 14, but fortunately, I think things are much better now. For a good chunk of this year, I'd been having more attacks than usual, so I tried various things--went to see the school counsellor, bought an MP3 player, then went to an actual DOCTOR, and when all of those things proved to be useless, I bought some all-natural L-Theanine pills, and later, rescue drops. They worked at first, but then my body started building up an immunity to them, so then I just stopped taking them. Now, I only take L-Theanine when I feel I really need it, like right before a performance......and I haven't had a panic attack for almost three weeks. I still get anxious in crowded, noisy, chaotic situations (so, I don't like parties, and I don't like riding crowded buses in traffic either), but I feel like a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders. Instead of my meds, I've been using the Dr. Claire Weekes approach. She advocates the use of "reverse psychology" with panic attacks. So, instead of trying to talk myself OUT of an attack, I say to myself, "bring it on, go ahead, have the WORST ATTACK EVER, it's not like it can kill me." Then, I picture the giant shadow of anxiety that used to follow me around shrinking down and down until it's almost invisible......and then I imagine myself squishing it into the ground with my foot.

I am 55 and have been dealing with anxiety off and on since I been a child. Probaby at the age of 2, after being left in a hospital for a medical procedure and my mother went into labor at the same time. After returning home from hospital there was a new baby and I had this huge cast on my leg. I tried running away from home. I also remeber as a child I would not allow myself to fall assleep, because I was obsesses over saving my family and home, in case the house would catch on fire.

I am 35. I like being in my thirties - I am a lot tougher and much more confident than I was in my twenties! Hopefully by the time I am 40, I will be well enough with my panic and HA to then handle menopause!!!!!
