I am 26 now. My problems started (officially) when I was 16. Hospitaliseed at 17 with Psychotic Depression. I thought that once the docs had sorted out my medication i would get better. I was wrong!

I'm 62.  This isn't my best year with anxiety, but it isn't my worst.  Looking back, I realize that I have had this illness since early childhood.

I think that I am the second oldest member of AnxietyZone - Popeye is a few months older than me.  If anyone else is older, I would love to know!

I'm 24.  My anxiety problems had started surfacing this year.  There has been so many changes in my life this year.  I had been laid off my job; recently got married; and just started back at school again.  My anxiety just keeps getting worse.

I remember in Psychology class learning that "most mental challenges tended to mellow out after the age of forty"...Well, that was 11 years ago for me...and I have butterflies in my stomach just typing this anonymously!  Yesterday I was at Walmart - with sweaty palms!  I go see my psychiatrist tomorrow - with a followup with my counselor next week.  I am sincerely looking forward to it!  Thank you for letting me vent,

bout' with it.  It does seem to be much worse the last few years but I chalked that up to quitting drinking a few
years back. I didn't realize at the time that I was self medicated and BOY did drinking WORK !

Mmm, it's sad to say, I gain some comfort in knowing that individuals of my age group (22 to 32) are mostly affected with emotional problems like anxiety. At the very least I know I'm NOT alone...even though my anxiety is extreme compared towards most!

47. Started getting palpitations when I was 8. They diagnosed mitral valve prolapse, but in retrospect, they were anxiety attacks mostly at night.

Hello, everyone. I am 32 years old. I have been struggling with anxiety for as long as I can remember, and I have specifically had health anxiety since the age of 19, or so (when I finally realized that I was mortal). When I think about the years of my life I've spent as a quivering ball of stress and worry, unable to enjoy this beautiful world, I am saddened and frustrated. More than anything, I want to conquer this, to live my life to the fullest and to enjoy each day. Best of luck, to all of you, in your journeys.

I am 33 it started pretty early I think in my twenties as well, now its almost uncontrollable just before my periods.  Its pretty noticeable to my partner and family members.  Recently, I was laid off from my job my last day is Friday because the relationship with my co-workers has become strained my anxiety level is so high I will not even attend the last day of work opting instead to apply for unemployment a day early.

I am 40 something.  I believe I have had panic attacks since I was little.  I was an only child so what went on with me ~ must just be normal?   When they did happen more frequently and my life got busier/complicated ~ people treated the physical symptoms.   A nurse who had the "disorder" spotted the whole picture only a few years ago and convinced me "this is not normal"

I'm 24 now and have issues with anxiety and depression sine I was 13.  Things definitely cycle, and I'm heading down to a bad bit now.  I seem to feel better for a few months, I re-enroll in college, and then midway through the semester I get overwhelmed and lose it.  My anxiety has always been school-related, among other things.

I wish I could say mine was hormonal changes, but not to be.  My anxiety has come from situations that I have faced in the last 4 years that have pretty much sent me over the edge. Working 50+ hrs including traveling and managing a staff, full time student, widowed and remarried, selling my home and buying another with the new husband, parent health issues, children's issues, death of 2 additional family members
