I'm turning 28 in about two weeks. To be honest I don't know how long I've had problems, since I had kinda a messed up childhood. But I'd guess really young. I already had some OCPD and social issues by the time I was 12 and the more severe stuff kicked in.

Right now I'm unemployed and having a helluva tough time with...I guess it's social anxiety. But a lot of days I can't leave the apartment, even to go get the mail or whatnot. Hell, twice in the last two and a half months I've ended up at the back of the closet sobbing and just trying to get away from the way the Outside presses in on the windows and doors.

Not medicated, no therapy. I'm so desperate for approval that I usually just lie to the doctors, and when I do tell them enough to get put on medication it just makes me start to lose my rather tenuous grip on reality. And a lot of times it makes me suicidal too, which by general consensus has been deemed a bad thing.

Okay, I guess I really ought to go. It's almost 12:30 a.m. and I have to try to psych myself up to go to a job interview tomorrow...

I'm currently 21.

but by far the worst time in my life for anxiety was 17. That was overwhelming...it was like I was drowning in it.

since then I've started getting into therapy so things have improved a lot. I still worry a lot but I don't feel like I am being swallowed up by it like I did in high school.

I'm 25. I've heard alot of mental problems occur in your early twentys and should start to go away by the time your in your 30's. Obviously not but there is alot more 20-30 somethings here so maybe there is something in it. i know i hope im better by my 30's

I'm 25, but the worst of my anxiety was when I was in middle school and high school. It's much better now, but I still have it. So my vote doesn't really apply to the questions being asked since it was at its worst a long time ago.

I'm 26 years old. I have suffered from anxiety my whole life--I am the oldest of four so I was always a "caretaker" and thus constantly worried about my siblings. I have separation anxiety as well as abandonment issues since my father left to work out of the country when I was a child. I was extremely clingy to my mother, I had anxiety every day at school that she would not come to pick me up. Over the years it continued but just centered around different things. When I was 5 I couldn't stand for my mom to take naps because I was sure she would never wake up. I could never stay with a babysitter. I could not stay home alone until I was about 16. The older Ive gotten, my anxiety has now changed to be centered around the person I am dating. I am always fearful that he will die in a car accident or some other way, I am constantly worried as to where he is (not worried about infidelity, but more about him going away or dying or getting sick). It has gotten worst and worst to the point where I don't know if I can fix anything anymore.

I Am 13 .. I Have Actually Had OCD Since I Was Around 6-7 But I Have Anxiety Instead Now Doing Quite Well Though Being Taken Off Tablets Slowly Bit Scared But Thats Lifee =]

I am 34 yrs old. Had times when it was worst than others. Right now I am going through rough time with my anxiety and panic attacks. I had a really bad bout with it about 5 yrs ago. And I was on meds and then I went off of them after I felt better. I am back on them now. Taking Lexapro and Xanax. I have been on them for about 2 weeks now. I am feeling less anxious and no panic attacks. I feel like most people that it is a constant struggle with anxiety and panic attacks. I am so glad that I found this forum. I can come here and I don't feel alone with my struggle with anxiety and panic attacks. Because if you haven't been through this, you don't know understand the struggle.

I'm 27. My earliest memories of anxiety are around age 5 when I began what would be a lifetime of hypochondria, followed by OCD and GAD. Nice little cocktail there... cheers.

Wow! So it looks like stress get increasingly higher up to your early 30's,then after it gradually reduces as you get older. That's not such a bad thing.
