Increased zoloft dosage and now have side effects
« on: August 29, 2011, 11:24:57 AM »
I have been on Zoloft off and on for years. I have been on 25mg for a year, but recently 4 days ago, I increased to 50mg. I took the 25 in the morning, so I have been taking the 50 in the morning also. While I can see an improvement in my attitude, the side effects are debilitating to me!
My mouth is dry, my appetite is gone, my skin feels crawly, and i get week feeling, dizzy and tired.
By 8 at night though those feelings are gone?! How long before they stop altogether, cause I have never had any side effects before.

Why did you increase the dose?  I think the side effects only last up to a couple of weeks, but I take mine before bed, which might help if you can sleep through them until your body adjusts.

I increased my dose because I was getting anxiey about my 3 year old starting school and both my husband and I work, and whos gonna have her after school? and..etc....
Ive always taken my 25 mg in the morning no problem, no side effects, but for some reason 50mg is really messing with me! I just wnat to power through this and get back on track!!!! :fragend005:

It's very common for dosage increases to result in temporary side effects.  If you are otherwise benefitting suggest trying to stick it out for a couple of weeks.  I would also suggest actively engaging the thoughts that are troubling you and trying to identify any distortions in your own thinking.  It is very common for anxious people to have cognitive distortions (e.g. what if thinking) that can be revealed through CBT exercises.
