Scrupulosity?
« on: August 22, 2011, 02:20:09 PM »
Does anyone here suffer from scrupulosity? It is OCD dealing with religion or beliefs. I have been suffering from it for as long as I can remember. I am always feeling guilty and unworthy of God's forgiveness. I feel no matter what I do or how hard I pray I am going to hell. I worry I did something in a past life or made a bargain with God I broke. Can I anyone else here relate?

You are EXACTLY like my daughter!  She was pretty good until she was about 18 or so.   EVERYTHING is a sin.  She is Catholic and stopped going to confession because she said, "What's the use, I'll walk out of confession and sin before I leave the church!"  I can't offer you any advice on how to deal with it because obviously no matter what I say my daughter didn't change - but I only wanted to let you know that there are others out there.   I KNOW what she goes through and I feel sorry for you that you are dealing with the same situation.

I can relate.  I have had religious OCD off and on for years.  PM me if you'd like to talk.  I'm going through it right now and it's terrifying!
