Fatigue
« on: August 21, 2011, 11:01:04 AM »
Hello.
I have been battling constant fatigue for about 2 1/2 months now.  My primary Dr. found nothing wrong with me (ultrasound & blood work) and referred me to a psychiatrist (due to my HA) and also for a sleep study.   They found I have mild sleep apnea but gave me a CPAP machine because the apneas are in my REM sleep and not allowing for true rest.  So far, the machine has not helped with the fatigue.
The psychiatrist basically said I need meds and gave me sertraline and lorazepam.
I know fatigue is an anxiety symptom but I can't stop thinking there is something really wrong with me.  Any input? I don't know where to go from here.
One note: I was on vacation last week for 7 days and my fatigue disappeared for about half of the vacation.  This should tell me something...right?

Thanks for any input!

Sounds like your stress and anxiety is causing your fatigue. This symptom is quite common
according to a client of mine who is a psychologist.

Thanks for the reply!  The psychiatrist I saw said the same thing....anxiety can wear you out.  Still, it is the vicious HA cycle that has me doubting it.  Hopefully the meds will help....although I hate the idea of taking them.   It seems like the lorazepam will just make things worse as it makes you tired....I don't have that problem.   Maybe the sertraline will help in time.

Hi.
I have given the sertraline  a couple of weeks now and I haven't noticed a difference at all.  I still have the constant fatigue where I feel like I can sleep 24 hours a day with no relief.  I am going to try and up the dosage of the medication and see if this helps but at this point I am convinced there is something physically wrong with me.
I have an appointment with a new doctor this week to get another opinion as I am afraid of being the "boy who cried wolf" with my old doctor.
Does anyone else have this constant fatigue? Any other ideas?
