A question about depression and GAD
« on: March 19, 2006, 10:29:05 PM »
Hey everyone..... this is Chris, I posted earlier about my onset of GAD after my Dad had died..... Whats funny though, is I think I have more symptoms of situational depression than anything else, (irratabillity, lonelyness, crying out of nowhere about my Dad)

Does anyone know about Physical symptoms and depression Could it be possible that it is more depression than GAD.... before my Dad died I was very happy and didnt stress out as much as my younger days. What do you guys think, hav you heard of depression causing the physical symptoms I have mentioned earlier?

yes, like post trauma...its easy to see how that can happen, however if you don't take care of it you could end up suffering for a long time...maybe you could see a bereavement councilor to help you deal with your dad's death and what is happening to you now?

I am seeing a psychiatrist and a counselor...... I believe I have always had a small form of GAD, but I have not been depressed..... I think the depression started last and I aave been avoiding it through work..... when I REALLY cried at the end of King Kong, I knew something was wrong.

My sister inlaw said to me that ANY  person that has gone through as much as I have in the past year would have all sort of problems.

That made me feel better......  I am also going to be going to a bereavemnet group.....

I still have the physical symptoms, but they are not as severe... I think I am on the right track and I will keep everyone posted...

I love my children and wife and that will get me through this. DId anyone see the Sopranos last night? That is how it was with my Dad in the hospita,l he was in a coma for 2 weeks before he was declared brain dead.

Chris,

I know what you mean... As someone who battles GAD and chronic depression, they go hand in hand sometimes. They can make each other worse and make it even harder to deal with things. Even make it hard to seek help.   Visit   www.depressionhurts.com   It has some info about the physical affects of Depression. Depending on how severe this depression is, you may want to talk to someone about some medication to help you. There is nothing wrong with taking medication to help us if we are really struggling in life.
