Any less expensive atypical antipsychotics than zyprexa?
« on: July 31, 2011, 04:45:38 PM »
I got a shock today at the pharmacy.  Thank god I've got drug coverage.  Last month my zyprexa at full cost would've been over $600. for a month.  This month it jumped up to over $900. a month at full cost!!!!!!  It seems that Eli Lilly is going kicking and screaming before they finally lose brand name zyprexa to a generic.  I've been paying $35 a month and today because I've entered that twilight zone known as "The Donut Hole"  I paid $108.  That's ok, but I guess I won't know what I have to pay next month until I put the prescription through.  I sure don't want to pay over $900. for ONE prescription.  I know risperdal is generic, but it quit working for me.  Anyone in the US know of other atypicals that are less expensive??

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

well snark

I did find the generic name---ziprasidone.  but I could not find the pricing.  I'm sure with more digging OR maybe calling your pharmacy, you could get a ballpark amount.

IDK if it is the med for you.  My eldest took geodon at 80mg for several years.  We got her down to 20mg later on.  One bonus is that it is considered "weight neutral"---as in it shouldn't cause weight loss or gain.  She is now on a different med.
