New and diagnosed with GAD

Hi! My name is Jennifer. I am 28 years old with three children. I have always had some anxiety ever since I can remember, but it has gotten tremendously worse in the past few months. I am going through some very stressful times in my life and had my first anxiety attack a few weeks ago. I quickly made an appointment with a psychiatrist and a therapist. They diagnosed me with GAD and I just took my first dose of lexapro yesterday. I am hoping it works! I am sick of the worry! I am tired of staying so close to home because I am afraid of what might happen. I want a good nights sleep for once without being woken up with an anxiety attack complete with nausea, sweating, rapid heartbeat, and diarrhea. I want to enjoy my life and family without the worry! I am glad to have found this forum!

Hi Jennifer, welcome to the site

Glad you found us. I know you will find plenty of information and support here.
Good on you for going to a psychiatrist and therapist so quickly; a lot of people wait so long.
Remember that when you start an SSRI such as Lexapro, you might feel a little worse at first but it will get much better.
