Stabbing pains in head. So scared, freaking out.
« on: July 03, 2011, 11:03:33 AM »
Hey all.

For about 2 days now I have had pains in the right, top-ish side of my head. They are coming about every 30 seconds and are lasting about 5 seconds each time. It has been constant for 2 days. I have had this before, but I don't know... it seems different this time. The pain feels like a pressure sort of and the pains are so regular that it scares me. IBuProfun and Tylenol have done nothing to help the pains. Please someone help because I feel like I'm about to cry. Ive convinced myself that I have some kind of aneurysm or something.

Thanks in advance.

I just felt a pain in my head after reading that...  Wonder if it was the power of suggestion!  Ha.

Hmmm, if it is so constant like that, it wouldn't hurt to call an advice nurse.  Also, if Ibuprofen & Tylenol aren't helping, I don't know if you should keep taking them.  Do you have neck/shoulder tension?

Hahah awww I'm sorry! Didn't mean to influence the head pain on you. <3

My neck is always tense because i am such an anxious person. And the IbuProfen and the Tylenol I am taking are actually to take away the pain of a virus i have that has been swelling my lymph nodes in my neck. I've had that for about 4 days now, and the headpain constantly for two.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, so the head pain is probably related.  In that case, it's probably something that's just going to take its course, hopefully!

Weird how that happens...  The power of the mind!  That has happened to me before, like someone asking about twitching and then I twitch while replying...  Ha.

I get stabbing pains in my head and have for years. I have had an M.R.I. and a CT scan, my results were normal. I have googled of course and what I came up with is primary stabbing headaches also known as icepick headache. Sometimes I have days where the stabbing pains will come and go and they only last a few seconds and some days I don't have any. I am not sure really what it is but I just wanted to let you know that I have them too.

I have had these pains in my head off and on for the last 2 years, it was driving me insane, no doctor could find a reason for it and they weren't worried at all about them, turns out when my back / neck is out the sensations start up, so when they start I go have a nice long bath and give my muscles a good soak, and hey presto the pains / sensations go away. also if I freak out about them and stir my anxiety up they get worse :( I was convinced that my head would explode but its still attached :)
